In Year 1
In Year 2
In Year 2 the children are becoming more and more confident in logging onto the Beacon and navigating around the site to locate the information that they need. They created brainstorms on all the different types of transport that they know and reflect on their experience with using Lucidchart. They also reviewed the safety rules for travelling online and learnt to troubleshoot on Google Chrome.
In Year 3
In Year 3 the children are have been learning to construct basic three-dimensional shapes before moving onto designing their own structures as well as the interior. They have shown a wide range of creativity ranging from the perfect home with TVs, sofas and swimming pools, to skyscrapers and buildings shaped like food! Throughout the whole process, the children have learnt to navigate and troubleshoot more efficiently, not only in Google Sketchup, but around the shared folders on the school network and the Beacon.
In Year 4
In Year 4 the children thought about the power of the internet and design superheroes with superpowers that encourages others to be great digital citizens. Their superheroes would encounter challenging situations that would require the children to generate solutions for when others may not be safe, respectful and responsible online. For their final unit of inquiry into the change of the Earth and its atmosphere, the children are exploring the uses of Google Spreadsheets and will be inputting data and generating graphs and charts.
In Year 5
In Year 5 the children continued to make fantastic and elaborate stop motion animations on Google slides and were paired up to create one centred around a renewable and nonrenewable energy that they have learnt in the past weeks. Some groups went on to convert their slides into a video and worked on it using Wevideo, whilst other groups focused on building more complex storylines in their animations. For their last unit on behaviour and identity, the children will be exploring other ways to communicate ideas in the digital world.
In Year 6
As the exhibition comes to an end, the children will be consolidating their experience on Google Docs and Draw. They will be creating invitations for the Year 6 production and going through a short series of workshops to further develop their skills in organising, operating, investigating and typing.
