Principal's Notes
Grade 9 students will participate in the ILEARN Biology Assessment on Tuesday, May 7th. Please get plenty of rest, charge your Chromebook, and restart your Chromebook before Tuesday's test. Testing will be from 8:00 to 10:30. Phones, smartwatches, or earbuds are prohibited in the testing rooms. These items will be put in student lockers.
We are excited about next Friday's Fine Arts Extravaganza. Thank you to the staff and students for their hard work in making this happen. We love showcasing our students' achievements.
I had a few families inquire about our seniors' schedule for the last week of school and the events leading up to commencement. Here is a copy of the letter sent to families earlier this semester. A few have asked about accessories to their cap and gown. Everyone should follow the dress code outlined in the letter.
All job postings can be found here. We need help in our cafeteria and classrooms.
Please avoid scheduling appointments when your child participates in state testing. Below is FP's testing schedule:
9th Grade: May 7 - Biology ILEARN
AP Calculus Exam: May 13
AP Biology Exam: May 16

What's Happening in the Jr High
Jr. High Academic Awards Ceremony
Forest Park will be holding our Jr. High Academic Awards Ceremony on May 17 at 11 AM in Buechler Arena to honor our students for their hard work, service, and academic achievement. We will recognize our students who have earned a 3.5 GPA, earned a class award, or who have participated in a club this school year. Parents are invited to attend this event and should enter through the main doors of Buechler Arena. Parents of students who will be receiving an award will be notified by email by next week. We look forward to honoring our students for all of their accomplishments this school year and appreciate all of the support from our families.
Guidance Updates
Guidance counselors have met with students to review their four year plans and course selections for next school year. Please talk with your students regarding their class selections and future career goals. To change their requests, students should reach out to their guidance counselor for a meeting. Please contact your student's guidance counselor with any questions.
Juniors
- SAT scores should be available to you via your College Board accounts. Please visit collegeboard.org to log in. Score reports have been distributed to students in English class. Students with additional questions can visit Mrs. Thimling or Mrs. Dilger.
- Junior Parents - This week your students learned about the initial steps to starting the process of applying to college. Please view the attachment for the information shared with them. Please reach out to Mrs. Dilger at any time for support.
Senior parents:
- Seniors were asked to fill out information regarding the Awards Ceremony to take place on Thursday, May 23rd at 11:00a.m. in Buechler Arena. Please encourage your child to correctly fill out what awards/scholarships they would like to be recognized for. Their response is critical in order to ensure that students are recognized properly for their achievements. Parents of students who will be recognized at the ceremony will receive an email invitation in May. Should you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Dilger.
Tutors
- Mrs. Thimling is seeking to put together a list of tutors in our community. If you or someone you know does private tutoring outside of school primarily for math, please ask them to email Mrs. Thimling at mallory.thimling@sedubois.k12.in.us to be added to a list that can be distributed upon request. Thank you.
- Jr. High Afterschool Tutoring
- Jr. High Afterschool Tutoring is being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:05 to 4:05 PM. Our last day of tutoring will be Thursday, May 9. Thanks to all of the students who have participated this year! We would especially like to thank our high school tutors for all of their hard work: John DeWitte, Elizabeth Kerkhoff, Kennedy Boeglin, and Kendra Ubelhor.

Help Desk
Students and Parents/Guardians
We are very near to the end of the school year. Chromebooks will be collected on the last day. Please help us out and look at your device. If you notice the lid hinge area being loose or the plastic around the screen is popping up in the hinge area, come see me in room 105. Hopefully, we can make a quick repair of tightening the screws and avoid breakage. We are charging for broken screens and hinges if you wait too long and the hinge breaks. I will give you a loaner until yours is repaired. If you do not have it repaired now, you will get it back in the same condition when school starts in the Fall.
Help Desk is open periods 1 - 3, Resource Time, 6 and 7. I suggest asking your teacher to call 4105 first to make sure that I'm in the room.
Do NOT put stickers on your Chromebook or protective case. If you currently have some on, remove them and get rid of the sticky residue.
If your device has a protective case, do NOT attempt to remove it. These are very tight and damage can occur easily. If you have taken it off, make sure to turn it in on the last day.
PLEASE don't carry your device with the lid open and one hand holding the screen. This also causes hinge AND screen damage.
