CELEBRATIONS
THS Receives Highest WASC Recognition
Thanks to the incredible effort and work of our students and staff, Tustin High School has received a full six-year accreditation, the highest possible status, from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)! During the WASC visit, we were able to demonstrate quality programs and systems that the committee felt confident about o not have to go through the WASC evaluation process again until 2030!
Senior Reflections
We celebrated the Class of 2024 at Senior Reflections on Saturday with student speeches and special performances by Choir, student soloists and Dance Team seniors. Having missed their 8th grade promotion due to Covid, our seniors have come a long way to reach this step of their educational journey. We are so proud of all they have accomplished and am excited to celebrate their upcoming graduation! If you missed the ceremony, you can watch it here on YouTube, thanks to Mr. Nakakihara and Tiller Media!
Ninian Yu Qualifies for National Merit
Ninian Yu, 11th grader met the requirements to enter the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. Out of 1.3 MILLION juniors, she scored in the TOP 50,000. In the fall, we will learn if she will be a Semifinalist or a Commended Student. This is a huge accomplishment and we are very proud of her. We'll update everyone in the fall with her progress! Please congratulate her when you see her!
Community Arts Exhibition & Empty Bowls Fundraiser
On May 8th the Tustin High Visual Art community gathered in celebration of the top 38 students in Ceramics, Drawing and Painting, Graphic Design, and Photography. The event was well attended, and students enjoyed talking about the inspiration behind their work and making the occasional sale. In addition to the exhibition, there was an awards ceremony honoring our 23 National Art Honor Society students, senior cord recipients that have fully completed their Arts/CTE pathways, and department awards that were presented to the top students in each course level that demonstrated essential artistic habits of mind which includes resilience, collaboration, and overall excellence. Thank you to our Visual Arts teachers Ms. Gray, Ms. Pinter, Mr. Maldonado and Ms. Soriano for their work in coordinating this event, and especially to Ms. Gray for her leadership!
Our first Empty Bowls event was also held on Wednesday night to raise funds for our work as a community school. Over 40 bowls, 65 nachos, and 50 cups of aguas frescas were sold to help us stock our community center with food and supplies, cover Hispanic Heritage Heritage Night expenses fund student incentives and programs, and more!
We would like to thank all of the students that participated in these two evets, their parents that came to support, and all the Tustin Unified Staff members that came to celebrate the arts and community schools work at Tustin High School!
California Day of the Teacher
We celebrated our incredible team of caring and dedicated teachers on May 8, California Day of the Teacher! The day started with delicious breakfast quesadillas and coffee from PTO. Throughout the day, administrators visited each classroom with handwritten notes and Starbucks cards. A special visit was also made to our Health Office staff for Nurse's Appreciation Week. Many thanks to Ms. Terri, Ms. Sarah and Ms. Chassy for the care and medical assistance they provide for our students and staff!
Next week, we celebrate our entire staff during Staff Appreciation Week. If you'd like to contribute, please visit https://www.instagram.com/tustinpto/ or scroll down for info fliers.
