MODIFIED LUNCH MENU FOR JANUARY/FEBRUARY due to construction
News From the Principal
Dear Tierrasanta Elementary Families,
Welcome to week 18 and the LAST week of the semester! We are officially at the half-way point of the school year. This Friday, Dec. 20th will be the last day of school before our winter break. School resumes on Tuesday, Jan. 7th. We wish you all a restful vacation, joyful holiday season and happy new year!
Cafeteria remodel coming soon! Our school kitchen is getting a makeover and will be closed when we return from break through February. Food services will still continue for all students but please know that there will be an alternate menu (see above) and may be slower lines initially due to make-shift serving arrangements in the auditorium. Hot food will be delivered from the local high school kitchen each day and we will do our best to make efficient modifications to the serving line in order to move our students through as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding!
Families of 3rd-5th grade students: The district has developed a new student survey that will be administered in January. For more information and/or to opt-your child out of this survey please see a copy of the Parent Consent Letter here. Parents will have until December 20, 2024, to submit the opt-out form.
NOW HIRING!
We REALLY need your help! Lunch supervision personnel are needed at Tierrasanta Elementary ASAP! Are you available between the hours of 11:10 and 12:10 (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday)? If so, TES needs you! Help our school and make a little money at the same time. The job entails supervising children during their lunch period (both on the playground and at the lunch tables). Don't forget... every Friday is school spirit day! We encourage all staff and students to wear school spirit wear on Fridays. This year spirit gear will be sold online. Look for info coming home soon about how to purchase.

Bodies & Minds of Different Kinds Committee meeting on December 18
Join the Bodies & Minds of Different Kinds Committee for their next meeting on Wednesday, December 18! Meetings will typically be held on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 PM, and will be hybrid - in person in Makerspace or on Zoom.

The Bodies & Minds of Different Kinds Committee is a parent-driven initiative to celebrate and advocate for neurodiversity, disability, and creating a network of support at TES. The committee would like to invite everyone who would like to be a part of the group to fill out this feedback form so they can take all perspectives into consideration: https://forms.gle/HHRiDY7QF87vTkFd6

The January PTO Executive Board meeting has been rescheduled from January 8 to January 15 - all are welcome!

School Supplies:
You are not required to purchase any supplies for school. Many parents ask however, if there is anything they can purchase for their child in class or for the classroom. Our teachers have compiled grade level lists of the items they recommend your child bring to school. School Lunch is free for all students. Students are also welcome to bring their own lunches from home if preferred. Please know that substitutions (although rare) can occur and that occasionally the cafeteria will run out of certain items/entrees. If your child is picky we recommend you always send a snack or have your child bring their own lunch.

Student Computers
All incoming 3rd-5th grade students should have their devices at home with them over the summer (even exiting 5th graders) as devices now follow the student (to whatever district school they attend).
Incoming K-2nd grade students will receive their computers once school starts (this process may take several weeks so please be patient)
