KENTUCKY SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT (KSA)
Our 3rd-5th grade students will begin KSA testing this week on Thursday, May 8th. Please refer to the KSA letter that was previously shared for all details, including the schedule. It is important that students are in attendance and well-rested. When at all possible, schedule appointments around testing days as they MUST be made up when scholars are absent.
Most importantly, we are excited for our scholars to share their knowledge and to perform to the best of their ability. Both our teachers and scholars have worked hard this year to prepare. We know they are ready, and we look forward to encouraging them this week and beyond! Good luck, GWC Scholars!

Our PTA will be selling pizza, chips, and drinks starting at 5:15, so if your family is in a hurry, come get your dinner from us!
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
- Scholars may bring devices to school; however, they MUST remain silenced and in their backpack at all times. If seen in class, or other locations, they will be confiscated and placed in the front office until they can be picked up by a guardian.
- Please do NOT allow students to bring valuables to school. The school can NOT be responsible for items brought on the bus to school.
- It is important to speak with students about their bus behavior in order to maintain a safe environment. It is expected that they are seated, with feet on the floor, at all times, keep hands and feet inside the bus and to themselves, and remain on an appropriate voice level at all times. Please note that scholars with bus referrals risk the potential of a bus suspension.
UNIFORMS
- Scholars are expected to be in GWC approved shirts and pants daily.
- Please ensure that you layer with a school-approved sweatshirt, if needed; otherwise, sweatshirts that are not part of the GWC uniform will be considered outwear and placed in cubbies with coats.
- Scholars may wear athletic wear on Wednesdays (tops and bottoms) if they choose. If they opt out of athletic wear, they should be in uniform (including khaki pants as jeans are only permitted on Fridays).
- On Friday GWC Spirit Day, scholars may wear jeans, but they MUST be in a GWC shirt.

ATTENDANCE
It is important that your scholar is here daily. When scholars are absent they miss important academic content. Equally, tardies have a negative impact upon your scholar as well and cause a disruption to the learning environment when arriving late.
Did you know?
- A child who is 10 minutes late misses 32 hours a year of lost education.
- A child who misses 1 day a week loses 2 months a year of education.
- Half a day a week missed throughout school life equates to 1 full year of lost education.
Please make every effort to have your scholar here and on time daily!
- If scholars are not in their classroom at 7:45 a.m., when the bell rings, we kindly ask that you check them in through the front office.
- If your scholar is absent, please make sure you send in an excuse and/or parent note, within three days, at which time the absence will be marked as excused.
- Keep in mind that you are allowed 10 parent notes per year
