College Board AP Distinctions
Aledo HS earns prestigious College Board AP distinctions, 94 Students Earn College Board Scholar awards
College Board Advanced Placement Awards
AHS earned a silver designation on the 2024 Advanced Placement School Honor Roll and was acknowledged as an AP Access award winner by the College Board. The school earned both of these designations last year, as well.
Nearly 1,800 AP exams were given to nearly 1,050 students at Aledo High School-Daniel Ninth Grade Campus in the 2023-2024 school year, and 66 percent of those tested earned a 3 or higher on their AP exams, which is required for college credit.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening access. Schools can earn this recognition annually based on criteria that reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.

Football
In their latest Friday night matchup, the Bearcats hit the road to face the Granbury Pirates in a district showdown. Aledo dominated from the start, piling on points early and often, while the defense smothered the Pirates' offense throughout the game. The No. 1 Bearcats cruised to a commanding 56-7 victory, showcasing strong teamwork between the offense and defense. After a bye week, Aledo will return to Tim Buchanan Field to host another top-ranked opponent, No. 10 Richland, on October 25.
It was certainly a strong showing! While we may not have advanced to the Elite 8, making it all the way to the Sweet 16 in the Most Spirited School Challenge is an accomplishment worth celebrating. The energy, dedication, and school pride that got us through the field of 64 is a testament to the Bearcat spirit. Every step of the way, from the initial excitement to the impressive Sweet 16 finish, reflected the heart and unity of our school community.
Though we didn’t quite reach the next stage, the effort everyone put in was commendable. Let’s keep that momentum going—Bearcats always give it their all, and there’s always another opportunity to show what we’re made of!

Tell us about your experience with an Aledo ISD team member who is Growing Greatness!!
As a reminder, we have streamlined absence reporting for all of our campuses for this school year. It is very important that we have documented reasons for absences so that we can ensure your student is given an excused absence when needed.
Please use this form to report your student's absence and upload any documentation. Allow 48 hours for information to be updated in the Ascender system, which will reflect in the Ascender ParentPortal attendance tab. Complete this form for EVERY day that your student is absent.
Attendance Matters
Research consistently shows a strong correlation between student attendance and academic achievement. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to excel academically and achieve higher grades.
In recognition of this, our campus has adjusted the exemption policy to include all high school students. Exemptions are earned through exemplary attendance, grades, and behavior. This change aims to encourage all students to maintain high standards in all areas, reinforcing the importance of consistent school attendance.
