Our Line Creek Fall Fling party is coming up soon! Thursday, October 17th during specials we will have our classroom fall parties. Parties are Fall-themed, so costumes are not allowed.
We are following a new schedule for our parties this year. This schedule allows students to maintain a normal schedule, while ensuring they still have their fun filled party experience! More information to come about snacks, crafts and activities!
We are excited to welcome parents to our fall parties. We can use volunteers to assist with the game and craft. You do not need to sign up to volunteer, when you arrive you will check in with the office and we will put you to work!
We are also in need of donations for our parties. You can view the sign-up link HERE. The sign-up is separated by grade. Please use the tabs along the bottom to find your child's grade. Then sign up in the orange space provided. Please send all donations to the classroom teacher by Thursday, October 10th. Thank you for supporting Line Creek!

Free and Reduced Lunch Program: Important Deadline Approaching
Dear Line Creek Families,
I hope this note finds you well. As we move into October, I want to remind you of an important deadline regarding the free and reduced lunch program. Students who received benefits last year under a grace period will lose their eligibility unless a new application is submitted by October 1st.
We know how important it is for every student to have access to nutritious meals, and we want to make sure no one goes without this support. If you haven’t done so already, please take a moment to complete your application online at www.schoolcafe.com or by completing the green Free and Reduced form that came home and returning it.
If you need any help or have questions, feel free to reach out to us. We're here to support you!
Project Adam
Dear Line Creek Families,
Line Creek Elementary is pleased to inform you that we have joined a nationwide community effort to make our school Heart Safe with Project ADAM. This decision is the result of our wish to ensure that our campus is prepared to provide an immediate response to someone suffering a cardiac emergency.
The latest national statistics indicate that more than 350,000 children and adults in the U.S. suffer from sudden cardiac arrest every year, most of them outside of the hospital. Through our cooperative efforts with Project ADAM KC at Children’s Mercy, we have joined hundreds of schools throughout the nation in preparing our school for a life-threatening emergency. This program enables us to offer any person who may experience a sudden cardiac arrest the best chance for survival.
One aspect of being a Heart Safe School is to practice a drill with our staff to rehearse our plan and practice our skills and staff have been trained to assist with an emergency during regular school hours. These drills will happen during school hours so please talk with your student if possible. Our drills are currently scheduled to take place on October 15th, 2024 and March 11th, 2025.
After school hours, this is a Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program. If you suspect someone is experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest, please use the equipment at our school to save their life. Good Samaritan laws protect the layperson in a life-saving attempt who is acting in good faith. We recommend becoming trained in CPR and AED use as an investment in your health and the health of others. You can take 60 seconds to watch the free Hands-Only CPR video at www.heart.org/handsonlycpr. Our local EMS is aware of our policies and procedures for the program, and we have been provided medical oversight by Project ADAM KC.
For your awareness, we have AEDs in the following locations at Line Creek Elementary
Lower level, outside of gymnasium
Upper level at top of South stairwell
AEDs are a life-saving device, and anyone can use an AED, even if you are not specifically trained. In the case of a cardiac arrest, call 911, start CPR and retrieve an AED. To use the AED, first press the power button to turn the device on. The device will then verbally walk you through the steps to use and save a life. Please note, the AED will not shock a person unless it detects a shockable rhythm.
Many thanks for your participation in this important Heart Safe initiative in our school! If you have any questions, please reach out to me.

Meet Gracie!
We have some very exciting news! Line Creek is getting a Facility Dog. Her name is Gracie. A facility dog is a special kind of therapy dog that is specifically trained to work in a certain environment, in our case, an elementary school. She comes to us from an organization called Warriors' Best Friend out of Liberty.
If you have any concerns, please contact Nurse Liz, Mrs. Holub or Mrs. Davis.
Click here to view more information about our facility dog program. This presentation will be shared with students during their library class this/next week.

Line Creek Arrival and Dismissal Processes
New Crossing Guard at 56th Terrace: Safety Update
We’re excited to announce a safety update for arrival and dismissal times: Mr. Lopez is joining us as our new crossing guard at 56th Terrace across Waukomis. This addition will help students safely cross Waukomis each day.
To further enhance safety, we’re encouraging students to cross at 56th Terrace instead of at the roundabout. To keep the 58th Street crosswalk clear, please avoid parking between Waukomis and the crosswalks during these times. Families on foot can pick up students at the 58th Street crosswalk, or park east of the crosswalks or at the park at 56th and Waukomis.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
Daily Transportation
For the safety of all our Lions, communication is the key! During Back to School Night, please ensure you communicate with your child’s teacher the details of your child’s mode of dismissal transportation.

- Students may not enter earlier than 7:55 unless attending a before school club, because there is not adult supervision until 7:55.

- Students arriving after 8:15 am are considered tardy.
Dismissal
Families must establish their child as one of the following:
Bus Rider (Front of the building): Your student's ID badge will designate their bus information. A sticker with their bus number will be placed on the back of the badge on the first day of school. Please confirm your child's bus number with his/her teacher.
Car rider (North side of building): All families with car rider students will receive a car name tag to place in the front car window to assist teachers assisting with student pick-up. car rider tags will be handed out at back-to-school night.
- Walker (South side of building): Due to safety, we are unable to dismiss you from the office. Walkers will be encouraged to walk along Waukomis on the east side and to meet with families at 58th St. If students need to cross Waukomis they will be encouraged to cross at 56th Terr. Staff will be available to help students with any questions during the first two weeks of school.
To ensure a safe dismissal, students won’t be dismissed from the office between 2:50-3:20. Please submit transportation changes by 2:00. Thank you!
Bus information is available in Infinite Campus for students assigned a bus before August 4th. We recommend contacting First Student if you have any concerns regarding your child’s stop. First Student can be reached at 816-359-4560 or contact Kay Burnos at kay.burnos@firstgroup.com
During the year, please notify the school office of any transportation changes prior to 2:30 pm. Thank you for your assistance!
Special Construction Note: NW Waukomis Dr will be closed north of Line Creek until further notice. Waukomis south of Line Creek is open.
Transportation
In June of 2023, Park Hill adjusted the bus transportation boundaries to help alleviate the shortage of bus drivers in Park Hill School District. This adjustment includes only offering bus transportation to students living within a defined distance from their school:
· Elementary School Students – 0.5 miles from school
· Middle School Students – 1.0 mile from school
· High School Students – 1.0 mile from school
Several of our neighborhoods were previously receiving bus services, because of a construction safety variance. Because the construction south of Line Creek on Waukomis is complete, the district will be removing the safety variance and will no longer be providing bus transportation to families who live within the 0.5 radius.
We know this may be difficult for some families. If you have questions you’d like to share with our Transportation Department, please email them at transportation@parkhill.k12.mo.us.
Thank you for making this adjustment with us, and please connect with us if you need support.
Road Closures
As of right now, Waukomis will be closed North of Line Creek until the end of the year. Line Creek can be accessed on Waukomis from the South.
We will update you with more information as we receive updates form the city.
Thank you for your patience.

Classroom & Birthday Treats
To protect the health and safety of our students, homemade treats will not be distributed to students in the Park Hill School District. Due to allergies and other food intolerances, please consult your classroom teacher before sending any pre-packaged treats to school.
Students may bring a birthday treat or favor to school to share with their classmates, as long as they come from our list of treats that contain none of the eight (8) major allergens - milk, wheat, egg, soy, peanut, tree nut, fish and shellfish.
Thank you for understanding that all classroom treats must come from this list because we do not have the staff capacity to check for allergens that could threaten the health of some students. Please bring birthday treats ahead of time (two hours after the start of school, at the latest).
