Can you believe we are almost half way done with the school year already?! As the holiday season quickly approaches, many students have taken advantage of the poinsettia fundraiser to raise money for the Washington, DC trip. I want to thank all the volunteers for their help during this fundraiser, I know it is a busy time of year for everyone! For the students who are not traveling to DC, the PTO will help with funds to support the school's plans for them to still have a great week here locally.

The next PTO general meeting will not be until February 6th, but the board is still meeting to plan for the rest of this school year as well as next year. We will be looking for both board members and committee chairs for next year. Please try to attend the next general meeting if you are interested in helping out. It only takes a few hours a month and makes a huge difference at SMS. And you know what? There is no better way to learn about what goes on inside the halls of Schmucker, then to get involved with PTO. Ms. Dean-Null attends the PTO meetings and gives a report about the events at Schmucker. It is so nice to hear her updates, especially since our kids are at an age where they may not be communicating with us as well as they have in the past. If you have any questions about what the PTO does or what we fund, a general meeting is a great place to get this information. And if you know parents who will be new to SMS next year, please let them know they can come to a meeting and even sign up for a committee or board position for next year. It's never too early to get involved!

POINSETTIAS ARE HERE!

Please remember to pick up your poinsettia orders on Monday, December 9th from 4-6 pm: Poinsettia pick up is in the Schmucker Middle School Cafeteria. It is your responsibility to pick up ALL of your orders on this date and deliver the plants to your customers promptly. The school will not reimburse for orders that are not picked up/delivered.

Get your holiday gift cards, party supplies and gifts using shop with scrip. You are not only giving a gift that doesn’t expire but also depositing 90% of the rebate into your student’s DC account. Physical card orders are due Friday, December 6th by 6:00pm. Students will be able to pick them up the following Friday.

Thanks, Schmucker families! We made $60 from Box Tops! Please continue to cut them out & send them into the office! Our next submission is in February. And don't forget, Box Tops are going digital! They now have an app for Box Tops in both the Apple app store & Google Play.

The Parent Teacher Organization at Schmucker Middle School plays a vital role in supplementing the educational experiences of our children. The funds raised by the PTO allow our students to have opportunities not funded by the school budget.
