NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER: 11-3-24
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Principal's Message
Dear Boulder Creek Families,
As November ushers in, we welcome a new trimester filled with important events such as Veteran’s Day, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and Thanksgiving. It’s hard to believe how quickly 2024 is passing!
October wrapped up with incredible school spirit, highlighted by our Red Ribbon/Spirit-themed days. Our students (and parents) showcased their creativity, especially during our successful Halloween dress-up day on October 31st. Everyone adhered to the costume guidelines, and participation was fantastic! We look forward to continuing this tradition in the years to come.
November is a time for gratitude, and I want to express my appreciation for our wonderful Boulder Creek families. The partnership we share in supporting our children's education is truly invaluable.
Warm regards,
Tina Croes

IMPORTANT NEWS!
Conference Week, Turkey Trot Jog-a-thon, and Lost and Found
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES, Nov 18-22
Parent/Teacher Conference Week is coming up November 18th-22nd. This is the week before Thanksgiving Break. Teachers will begin scheduling conferences with parents very soon if they haven't already.
Middle school grades will be conducting student-led conferences with the exception of some mandatory teacher-led conferences. Middle school teachers will reach out to their parents to schedule either a student-led or teacher-led conference with you.
The best way to help your child with his/her success in school is to play an active role along with the classroom teacher. We look forward to sharing your child’s first-trimester progress during conference week.
ANNUAL TURKEY TROT JOG-A-THON 2024
The Turkey Trot Jog-a-thon will take place on Friday, November 22nd on Boulder Creek's lower playground. Pledge information has been sent home with your child.
Thank you in advance for your support!
FALL IS THE TIME FOR LOST AND FOUND - JACKETS AND SWEATERS
It's that time of year, cold in the morning and warm by the day's end. It's the time of year when our students wear layers to school and peel them off on the playground or in the cafeteria and leave them behind. Please write your child's full name on their clothing tags, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc. We will get their items back to them if we know who they belong to. Also, be sure to check our Lost and Found, housed in the cafeteria, regularly for lost items. Lost and Found items are taken to GoodWill during each vacation break (Thanksgiving Recess, Christmas Recess, President's Week, Spring Recess, and Summer) of the school year.

Book Fair
Annual Boulder Creek BOOK FAIR - November 18th-22nd
Along with conferences, the Fall Book Fair is the week of November 18th-22nd. Come and shop the great assortment of books and gifts while raising money that goes directly to our school library. The Book Fair will be set up in the library and will be Monday-Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 7:30-2:00. You may gain entrance to the Book Fair only through the office between the hours of 7:30 and 8:00.
Students will have the opportunity to browse and/or buy during their regularly scheduled library times. However, only children with money to purchase will be allowed in the Book Fair before or after school. All backpacks will be neatly lined against the wall in the hallway outside of the library. No backpacks will be allowed at the Book Fair.
Parents, we welcome you throughout the Book Fair week. You may want to consider Book Fair items for Christmas gifts! Check out the Book Fair flyer going home on Monday, November 6th. Or, log onto the Book Fair link HERE to preview what you will find at the Book Fair.
The Parent Club is looking for volunteers to help with running the Book Fair. Volunteers are needed the most before and after school as that is when the Book Fair is the busiest. Volunteers can sign up to help by clicking HERE to sign up!
Thanks so much for supporting our school's library as well as your child's love of reading!
Parent Club Needs Your Help to Keep Our Traditional Events Alive!
Book Fair - November 18th-22nd:
Parent Club’s next event is the Annual Book Fair held in the library during Parent/Teacher Conference Week (minimum days), November 18th-22nd. Volunteers are needed to help with the Book Fair. Volunteers are needed from 7:30am to 3pm each day that week. Please consider sharing an hour or two of your time. Sign-up by clicking on the Book Fair Volunteer link.
The Holiday Boutique - Dec. 9th-12th: This holiday tradition spans 25+ years at Boulder Creek. Our TK-5 students have the opportunity to go shopping for their own family members in the boutique set up at Boulder Creek. They are assisted with gift wrapping as well. The kids love it, and it promotes positive feelings toward giving to others. Click HERE if you are willing to help set up, help students shop, and wrap gifts.
NO FOOD DELIVERIES AT SCHOOL
Unfortunately, we will not be able to allow paid delivery services such as Doordash, GrubHub, Uber Eats, Instacart, etc. to drop items (food/drink) for students. This has happened a few times and has proven to be disruptive to the school environment. Items have been ordered that we do not allow on campus, as well as items ordered for friends. This can be problematic when it comes to the risks related to potential food allergies, etc. All deliveries will be denied or held in the Boulder Creek Office until school is dismissed for the day. Boulder Creek is not responsible for any loss of cost or food.
Parents delivering lunch for their children only or for a classroom party (such as a pizza party) is still acceptable.
Boulder Creek offers a FREE breakfast and lunch to all students. Breakfast is available 30 minutes prior to the first bell, and lunch is available during your students' scheduled lunch.
Thank you for your understanding.

PARENT PORTAL LOG-IN
All parents, including new parents, should have logged into the Parent Portal at some point already. Why do you need to create a parent account? This is a secure platform through which you will view your child's teacher/class, receive your child’s report card, complete enrollment, and complete the necessary beginning-of-the-year school forms like your child's emergency card. In the future, this is also how state testing results will be communicated.
Click HERE for the link to the parent portal. If you cannot log-in successfully, please call our school's office at 224-4140. Be sure to keep your log-in information in a safe but accessible place.

DROP-OFF/PICK-UP TIMES AND PARKING LOT PROCEDURES
Where/when should I drop-off and pick-up?
Grade-Level Start and End Times
We are happy to welcome our students on campus for breakfast as well as on the playground before the start of the school day this year. The earliest drop-off time is 7:30 a.m.
Regular Day - School Start/End Times:
4-8 grades begin at 8:00 a.m. - 2:14 p.m.
K-3 grades begin at 8:15 a.m. - 2:03 p.m.
Minimum Day - School Start Times:
4-8 grades begin at 8:00 a.m. - 1:09 p.m.
K-3 grades begin at 8:10 a.m. - 1:09 p.m.
Students will be released from class based upon the dismissal time. Students will be walked to a designated pick-up area (see below) and remain with their teacher/classmates. If they have a younger sibling(s), they should report to the designated pick-up area of their youngest sibling so parents don't have to visit both pick-up loops. Please coordinate this with your children.
To ensure the safety of all children, students must be picked up at their dismissal times. The school does not provide supervision for students after 2:20 p.m. on regular days and 1:20 p.m. on minimum days. Every Monday is a minimum day. If students are not picked up by the aforementioned times, they will be escorted to the office. Parents will then be required to go to the office to check students out. Remember this is to ensure your child’s safety, so please be prompt when picking up your child.
Assigned Parking Lots for Drop-off and Pick-up
This year, you will be assigned to a specific parking lot for morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. It is extremely important that you stick to this because your child/children will be taken to this area after school. If you have multiple BC children, we do not want you to have to go from parking lot to parking lot, so you will be picking all of your children up together in one location.
This location is decided by the youngest child in the family. Older children in the family will need to find their youngest sibling at the pick-up location that is assigned to that sibling's grade level. For example, Kindergarten will be picked up in the front parking lot, so all older siblings of Kindergartners will report to the dismissal location to find their Kindergarten sibling's class at the front of the school and wait for their parents there together. We will be out to help older siblings find their pick-up point. This should only take a day or two to get into the routine of where to go.
Parking Lot Assignments by Grade-Level:
- TK/K (and all older siblings) - Front Lot
1 and 2 (and all older siblings) - Back Lot
3 and 4 (and all older siblings) - Front Lot
5 (and all older siblings) - Back Lot
6-8 (and all older siblings) Front Lot
Please do not arrive earlier than your oldest child's release time (see above), as we want to be able to clear the parking lot quickly for each group. If you have multiple children who are released at both times, please find a parking space rather than waiting in the pick-up lane as this will block the lane from moving as you wait for your older child. Thank you for your cooperation.
BC FLOW OF TRAFFIC MAP
Enter/exit the campus from the neighborhood depending on which parking lot you are assigned. Front lot = red arrows. Back lot = green arrows.

OFFICE HOURS
