5th Grade Math
Dawn took the 5th grade students to the new gym and they worked on some real world math. Plaques are going to be hung in a walled section. Kids measured the distance of the wall and figured out how many pieces of lumber will need to be purchased for the project. Students will also help her figure out the placement of the plaques.
WLHS Choir Joint Rehearsal with Clark Choir
The Willow Lake Choir went and joined the Clark Choir for a rehearsal and sang a special song, ___, for Levi. The choirs were able to FaceTime with Levi for a chat. Thank you to Mrs. Vandersnick and Mrs. Nelson for making this happen!
Freshman Careers Class
The Freshman class has had a busy week! As part of Mrs. Cheryl Hovde's Career Exploration Class, they ran the WLHS Balloon Business. Students set up, priced, and ran the Valentine's store. They took orders and delivered Crush Cans later in the week.
Seniors Visit Pierre
On Wednesday, February 12th, the Willow Lake Senior Government class traveled to Pierre to visit our State Capitol building and watch the State Government in action. The class was fortunate to spend time with Senator Steph Sauder and Representatives Kent Roe and Dylan Jordan in the morning. We appreciate our representatives taking the time to speak with students, show them around the Capitol building, and talking about the issues currently being debated in the State Legislature. After lunch the class was able to watch our State Government in action and appreciated Senator Sauder announcing our presence in the viewing gallery to her colleagues in the Senate.

Class of 2025: Letters of Impact
Mrs. Terhark had her Senior Class write letters of gratitude to teachers that made a difference in their lives. Before Christmas break, each Senior read their letter to the person and gifted them with a t-shirt stating, "I have made an impact. WLHS Class of 2025". In the following weeks, I will share a quote from the Senior letter and a picture of the student and their teacher of influence. Thank you Mrs. Terhark and the Class of 2025 for their work on this cool project!
Ginny & Mr. Tonak
"One of the most important lessons you taught me was hard work pays off. You have always believed in me and made me feel like I could do anything I set my mind to, but not without hard work and dedication. I will always be grateful for the encouragement and dedication that you gave me. Thank you for being such an inspiring teacher and mentor to me. You've made a lasting difference in my life. I will carry the lessons you taught me wherever I go I hope to someday impact people the way you impacted me."
Day at Agtegra
Cell Phones
With the cold temperatures, if you or your child would no longer like to leave their phone in their car, they will need to come and talk to Mrs. Mohr to get their key.
🚨 If your student has lost the key to their box--they should see Mrs. Mohr. I can change out the lock for $3.
Levi Update
Thursday, February 9, 2025
Thoughts from Erica: It's game day and Levi's ready to cheer on the Chiefs! He's still been feeling pretty blah these past couple of days with a sore throat, cough, muscle and bone pain and has been fighting fevers. The blood cultures they drew on Thursday have been negative and he tested negative for influenza and other respiratory illnesses which is good. They also drew additional blood cultures yesterday which are all still negative. The lab watches the blood cultures continuously for 5 days to see if any bacteria grow. Dr. Nelson said everything could be from his body working extra hard to get his blood counts back up so we're hoping once his counts really start coming back he will start to feel better. His ANC is 8 today so hopefully we are headed in the right direction 🧡.

Thoughts from Erica: Levi's been feeling about as well as the Chiefs played on Sunday - not great, but he finally seems to be on the upswing today. He's been fighting a cough, sore throat, and inflammation in his lungs and ended up developing pneumonia. His coughing has made it difficult for him to sleep sometimes and he's needed oxygen at times while sleeping. His up and down fevers seem to be better and he's starting to eat a bit as he hasn't had much of an appetite the past few days. His ANC is back down to zero and the doctors are thinking that once his ANC starts consistently going up it will help clear up his lungs. The past two rounds have taken longer to recover from than the other three, but the doctors say that's pretty typical. He was admitted January 10th so he's definitley ready to get out of here.
Although the Super Bowl didn't go the way he wanted he still enjoyed being able to watch the game on a larger screen. They even had the room decorated for him! He had a fever off and on all day on Sunday and was feeling ok at the start of the game, but by the time the game was over his temp was up and he was ready for bed.
Praying that his lungs clear up and his ANC starts increasing so he can get ready to come home before too long 🧡.
Saturday, February 15, 2025
Thoughts from Erica: Just a quick update with good news - he seems to have turned a corner and is starting to feel better. His ANC is 104 today - yay! His lungs and cough are also sounding better and he's gotten a little bit of an appetite back. As long as he continues to improve and his ANC keeps rising the doctor is thinking maybe sometime this coming week he will get to ring the bell and go home 😊.
