Mr. Macken's Message
Centerville Families,
Thank you for attending parent-teacher conferences. Your active participation in your child's education means the world to us. These conferences are an invaluable opportunity for us to discuss your child's progress, and your engagement truly makes a difference.
We would also like to express our immense appreciation for the delicious meals and treats provided by the team effort of our parents and the PTA during the conferences. Your generous contributions ensured that staff were able to grab a bite to eat during these busy nights, making the conference experience a bit easier for them.
Moreover, we want to thank the dedicated parents who put their time and effort into organizing the Book Fair. It was an absolute hit with the kids, and it is encouraging to see so many young readers excited about books. Thank you for promoting reading.
Your continuous support, whether through conferences, meals, or events like the Book Fair, plays an integral role in making our school community thrive. We are grateful to have such committed parents and look forward to the year ahead with you.
Go Cougars!
Mike Macken

Cougar Pride - Gaga Ball
Kids love playing Gaga Ball at recess, a fast-paced form of dodgeball in an octagon. We emphasize responsibility, respect, and safety to ensure everyone has fun while playing fairly. Our student leadership team helped create a video explaining the rules, and we encourage you to watch it with your child as a reminder of how to play safely and respectfully.
Do you work in a STEM field or have a STEM-related hobby?
- We would love for you to join us at our school-wide STEM event next month which is co-hosted by Centerville PTA, Cub Pack 432, and Scouts BSA Troop 136.
- The event will be on Monday, November 4th at 6:30 PM.
- Each year, students and their families get to experience a wide variety of STEM activities and booths around our school.
Character Parade - Save the Date
Date: Thursday, October 31st
Time: 2:30
What type of costume should a student wear for the Character Parade?
- We are asking that all families choose a costume that is non-violent/scary in nature. These costumes are day costumes and may differ from a costume a student wishes to wear in the evening. Examples of appropriate costumes are sports figures, historians, fairy tale characters, occupation outfits, storybook characters, heroes, etc. Costumes that are distracting are not welcome at BHE (examples: zombies, Scream, Freddy Krueger, etc.). No play or real weapons of any kind will be allowed on school grounds. If you are wondering if a costume is appropriate or not, please ask your child’s teacher. Also, please do not send your child to school with his/her face or hair painted, they will be asked to remove it if this occurs. If your student wants to participate but needs help getting a costume please contact the school office at 763-792-6200.
What do you do if you do not want your student to participate in the character parade?
- Please complete the form to request an alternative activity. FORM
