ITS/EdTech Updates
PLEASE DO NOT MOVE CLASSROOM EQUIPMENT
With the changes and installations of new equipment, ITS is checking out equipment in Destiny directly to classrooms. Because of this, moving the equipment out of the classroom it's assigned to is problematic. Please do not move any ITS equipment from rooms/offices. If equipment needs to be moved, please submit a ticket.
This includes:
- phones
- docking station
- monitor
- keyboard & mouse
- Promethean Board
Additionally, it is critical that you do not move classroom phones. Once they have been plugged in to the network, they should only be moved by ITS personnel. Moving these phones on your own can cause safety issues, as the phones are tied to specific locations, and also can cause problems with your network.
Did You Know? Hapara Edition
Did you know you can customize your Hāpara landing page? You can reorder your classes, change the color, add and remove starred classes, and rename your classes with emojis. Go to Hapara and try it out.
YouTube Access for Students
Because of changes in Google, access to YouTube on student accounts will change within the next few months. Staff members will still have access to YouTube and will be able to embed YouTube videos in Canvas for their students. It is recommend you embed YouTube videos by using Canvas Studio. When you do this, you can also add annotations and quiz questions, making your videos more interactive.
How do I add a YouTube video to my Canvas Studio?
- Click on the Studio icon in the Global Navigation menu on the left side of your Dashboard in Canvas.
- Click on Create.
- Select Add Media.
- Copy the URL from YouTube.
- Paste the URL from YouTube.
- Click on Add Video.
- The video is now listed in your Studio.
- At this point, you can add questions and annotations and then create an assignment with your video.
TechLeader Coach Application
With the deployment of Promethean panels throughout the District, our Academics, EdTech, and Innovative Technology Services (ITS) departments want to ensure that teachers have support from other PUSD teachers who have taught their same curriculum and are familiar with PUSD specific curriculum and resources.
To provide this additional support, we are reopening the role of TechLeader for the remainder of this school year. The TechLeader Coach from each school site will attend meetings and be provided with training so they can then share and demonstrate those resources to other staff members, as well as provide support to staff members on using new District provided technology.
For more information, please see the expectations and apply via the links below. If you have any questions, please contact EdTech. Deadline to apply is February 28th.
