Relationships are Key to Student Success
See how MTSS (Multi-tiered Systems of Supports) benefits the whole-child by using both academic and behavior data to help create an environment where students can grow, engage, and excel at their own pace. It provides an individualized learning and behavioral roadmap that matches the needs of each student.
From celebrating small victories to strengthening skills, MTSS helps each student discover their unique path to success. When schools team up under the MTSS framework, everyone wins! Take a look at the video below to learn how our teachers, students, and staff are using the MTSS framework in our schools.

Congratulations to Tim Ryan, McCluer North teacher, on being named the 2024-25 Ferguson-Florissant School District Teacher of the Year. Ryan began teaching in 1999, inspiring students through courses like American Lit, British Lit, Creative Writing, and IB/AP Literature. He has also served as English Department Chair, is a member of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT), and leads as Head Coach for Boys Varsity Baseball. His dedication to students both in and out of the classroom makes this recognition well deserved. As the FFSD District Teacher of the Year, Mr. Ryan is eligible for the Missouri Teacher of the Year honor—congrats!

Help Your Child Finish Strong in 4th Quarter
When returning from spring break, the final push to the end of the semester can be tough. The last few weeks include projects, testing, assignments, and final exams. We know that this can lead to increased levels of stress and fatigue. Here are some tips for parents and caregivers to share with their children in hopes of finishing the semester strong:
-
Stick to a routine: Set regular times for studying, meals, and sleep.
-
Break work into chunks: Focus on one task at a time to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
-
Take short breaks: Stepping away for a few minutes can help boost focus and energy.
-
Limit distractions: Create a quiet space for homework and studying.
-
Stay hydrated and eat well: Good nutrition supports concentration and stamina.
-
Talk it out: Encourage open conversations about stress or worries.
-
Celebrate small wins: Acknowledge progress to stay motivated.
Special Education Update
FFSD continues to prioritize student success through strong partnerships and dedicated support. Recently, we’ve seen amazing moments of inclusion and excellence, from the inspiring participation in the Special Olympics to the success of the North High Coffee Mart as part of Student Entrepreneurship featured during Black History Month, where students are gaining valuable life and job skills.
As part of our commitment that students receive the services they need, we are pleased to announce the reallocation of teachers, paraprofessionals, and speech-language pathologists (SLPs) through our partnership with Special School District. This will help to guide our students towards growth, accessibility, and achievement. We are proud of the incredible staff and students in FFSD and look forward to continued success.
