Brown Elementary Update
November 27, 2024
From the Desk of Dr. Cole Harms
Hello Brown Bears!
I wanted to take a moment and say "Thank You" to all of you for the welcome and support I have been given as we started this year together. It has been such fun to get to know you, your students and our Brown Elementary School family. We are so lucky to have each other and I am grateful for all of you. I am excited for the rest of the year ahead!
On Monday we had our second all school assembly where we spoke about Practicing Empathy - the P in our PAWS core values. Since Brownie the Bear wasn't available (he went to celebrate Thanksgiving early) we had some other friends, from Sesame Street, talk to us a bit about what Empathy is, and then we practiced a few scenarios together as a whole school. I've copied the video we watched below in case you would like to see it, or talk about Empathy some more with your student over the break.
Grade 2 had an incredible Safari this week - it was so fun to see the students be "experts" on so many different things. I saw experts on Bats, Sharks, Snakes, Sushi, Harry Potter and even E-Sports! If you have a second grader, I encourage you to ask about it. You will learn so much!
Have a great long weekend,
Erica

Student Shout Outs
Grade 4: Jeremih Hairston - Jeremih shows kindness and leadership to Kindergarten friends. Every morning he greets the younger students with a smile and a fist bump. He always includes them in games and activities.
Grade 1: Mateo Espada and Griffin Young - Mateo and Griffin acted like leaders when they went above and beyond to include another student in their group. They were supportive and patient while they helped their friend count and write down different letters. Great job Mateo and Griffin!
