From the Principal
'Education' is getting a bad rap these days. There are LOTS of opinions and critiques about education, lots of politics around education in Texas right now, and only the negative headlines seem to catch any attention.
If I may be fully transparent, I'm starting to think that I (a school principal) am not all that knowledgeable when it comes to 'education', at least not the what I hear about in the news or from politicians. I'll also be the first to say that there are lots of things about our education system that I don't love or agree with.
Despite all this, I'm confident that I am an expert when it comes to 'school'. Not the politics or the headlines of the worst education moments across the nation. I'm an expert on the day to day of school that involves people: students, teachers, and community members. I love school. I think amazing things happen at school every day (my school and lots of schools all around me). I believe on any given day there are hundreds of amazing things happening compared to every issue that exists.
So... we made a video about school. I hope it's a reminder to any of us who are bogged down or stressed about 'education' that school is pretty great, and our school is amazing. I hope you enjoy.
Colter Cox
Proud Principal of Central Elementary.
