The Eagle Eye Edition
Mountain View Elementary
October 2024
Principal's Monthly Message
Hello Eagle Families,
What a whirlwind September has been! Despite the heat waves, fires, and the hustle of parent-teacher conferences, we made it through together, demonstrating the resilience and strength of our incredible community. As we head into October, the excitement continues! This month brings National Hispanic Heritage Month, Walk to School Day with the Ontario Police Department, National Bullying Prevention Month, Red Ribbon Week, and our annual Trunk or Treat event, just to name a few.
A continued focus for us is attendance. Your partnership in maintaining a routine of regular school attendance is crucial. Our instructional time is invaluable, and we need your help in minimizing interruptions by ensuring students are well-prepared. Please organize your student the night before, making sure they have everything they need for a successful day—backpack, jacket, lunch, water bottle, and anything else that helps them be ready to learn.
I also encourage you to get involved! If you haven’t yet, please begin the process to become a volunteer. Whether you can do a little or a lot, we welcome and appreciate your participation in whatever capacity your schedule allows.
The MVS Eagle Community is MIGHTY, and I am so incredibly honored to be part of it alongside each one of you. Here’s to a fantastic October filled with learning, fun, and connection!
SOARing with Eagle Pride,
~Mrs. Marich
Bullying Prevention and Awareness Month
From the desk of Ms. Rodriguez...
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. What does that mean for us Eagles? It means it is the perfect time to celebrate our differences, unite, and stand up against bullying and hate. More than 1 in every 5 students report being bullied across the U.S. This includes physical bullying, spreading rumors, cyber bullying, or social bullying. Here at Mountain View we can make a difference by showing kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. How can we do this? Well, it can be as simple as inviting someone to sit next to you or greeting a student who is alone. Or it can be as bold as sticking up for a student who is being mistreated or separating yourself from others who are being unkind. Bullying can cause students to feel lonely, afraid, and/or unworthy. Students who are bullied may feel unsafe and may not want to come to school. MVS should be a place for every student to feel safe, worthy, and included. Let’s UNITE to support others who have been hurt, treat others with kindness, be more accepting of others, and help include those who are left out. Together we can be Eagles Against Bullying!

To SOAR, Be Here More!
To SOAR, Be Here More!!
We greatly value your partnership in ensuring your student(s) arrive at school on time, every day! Here are a few reminders to help support this goal:
- Breakfast is available daily in the MPR starting at 7:15 a.m.
- Students should be on campus and through the gate by the 7:55 a.m. warning bell to be ready with their class when school begins promptly at 8:00 a.m.
We’re recognizing students for great attendance and encouraging them to Be Here every day! Some of the ways we celebrate include:
- Weekly drawings for students with perfect attendance from the prior week.
- Monthly Attendance Challenges with reward opportunities.
- Attendance Surprise Days – students who are here on these unannounced days get to join in fun activities!
Remember, we MISS YOU when you’re not here, and you MISS OUT when you’re absent!
