BIG TOP KIDS

May is here and summer will be here before we know it! We are praying that you and your family have a great rest of the school year and that you find ways to relax and enjoy time together. The summer season at Homestead is filled with lots of fun events for your family, and we want to encourage you to get involved. Whether that is with kids camp, VBS, Top the Tater Days, or any of the other fun events we have planned, don't miss out on all the fun!

We officially have the keys to our new building across the street and are excited to have a larger space for our elementary students. We will be renovating that space this month and could use help painting, moving things in, and lots of other fun. If you would be available to help us with some of these project, please let us know!

We know that lots of kids struggle with fear, worry, and anxiety. And we know that parents can feel helpless to know how to help their kids and teenagers deal with these issues.

Homestead Community Church is offering a workshop for parents and kids on Saturday, May 10 from 9am-12pm. Parents will learn from Dr. Todd Monger, who specializes in family dynamics, depression, anxiety, and communication techniques. And elementary aged kids (K-5) will be attending a workshop with Art Therapist Bree Reed who will teach the students practical tools to work through their struggles.

This workshop is free and available to anyone who would like to join!

Kids who are finishing 5th grade are invited to join us on the lot by the church for ice cream on May 16th from 6:30-7:30. We will be joined by the youth pastors, and kids will have the chance to ask questions about moving from Big Top Kids to Youth.

They are also invited to Youth Preview Night on June 4th! Please note, this is a date change from the original date of May 28th. Pastor Brent and Pastor Anna will attend youth with the kids to help them get to know the routine.

The Home Crew Hangout in May is for 4th and 5th graders in Home Crew. It is also open to kids who are finishing 3rd grade. If your 3rd grader would like to join Home Crew, please use the registration link in the Home Crew section at the end of the newsletter.

Below are the ages for each Big Top Kids classroom:

Big Top Babies: Birth - Age 2

Big Top Littles: Ages 3-5

Big Top Kids: Kindergarten - 5th grade

This is a change that is new this summer!

With the additional space for Big Top Kids across the street, kindergarten will move from being part of Big Top Littles to Big Top Kids. This change will take place the weekend of June 7th & 8th. If you have a child who is currently in kindergarten or will be starting kindergarten in the fall, he or she will move up to Big Top Kids that weekend.

This will also be the weekend 5th graders switch from Big Top Kids to Youth.

KIDS CAMP REGISTRATION IS HERE! Camp registration is a two-step process. It's most easily completed from a computer. Early Bird pricing expires on Friday, May 16th 2025 at 11:00pm CST. After this date, the price goes up by $50. All registrations are due by Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 11:00pm CST.

As our children's ministry at Homestead continues to grow, we are in need of additional volunteers to help at weekend services. Please contact Pastor Anna or Pastor Brent if you would like to volunteer in Big Top Babies, Big Top Littles, Safety Team, or at Check-in. Thank you!!!

Volunteer to play with the babies of Homestead while their families attend service

Volunteer as a teacher or assistant for the preschoolers and kindergartners of Homestead! The kids in Littles have play time, as well as a lesson, each week.

Volunteer for Check In or Safety Team! The Check In team assists families with checking their children in to Big Top Kids. They are some of the first people to greet new families. The Safety Team ensures kids and adults have tags for check-out and help maintain a secure entrance and exit to Big Top Kids.

Home Crew is an opportunity for 4th and 5th graders to grow in their faith, leadership, and relationships by getting more involved in the ministry of Big Top Kids. Home Crew helps in many areas of Big Top Kids and also meets a few times a year for Home Crew Hangouts.
