From the Principal's Office
We are moving right along in our launch of this school year, and things are going well!
Educators have began collecting information about all of our scholars and who they are as learners. We call this "baseline data." This type of data tells us what knowledge and skills students have in reading math. We use that data to set growth goals for the year.
Your child's educator will share your child's goals with you at the Parent-Teacher conference (November) but you are always invited to communicate with your child's educator sooner and more frequently than that.
Ms. Hines is designing an exciting series of workshops for families this year, as well. These workshops will include topics on self-care for families and caregivers as well as strategies to help your child reach those academic goals that we just described above!
We are grateful for your partnership and look forward to working with you this year!
Warmly,
Principal Manning
PS: The Bears loss in LA last weekend was my lowpoint on Sunday. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do in Cincinnati this weekend! #BEARDOWN

-leading a craft or activity in your child's classroom
If you are interested in being a Room Parent for your child's class, please fill out this form OR email Mrs. White (type your name, child's name, and teacher's name in your email) at (whitec1@sfusd.edu).

LAWE (Carver School Goals)
L-Literacy! Each educator will set goals for every individual student that will demonstrate ambitious reading growth during the school year.
A-Attendance! Every day and every minute matters. We are aiming for 80% average daily attendance. Please help us reach our goal by ensuring that your child is in attendance and on time every day.
W- Wellness! It is important to us that your child feels safe and comfortable in our school environment. Our work ensures that students have access to the Wellness Center, as well as individualized calming tools within their classroom.
E- Enrollment! We want more students in our school! Our best marketing strategy is word of mouth! There is a place for all children and families at Carver! Our goal is to enroll 40 new students for School Year 22-23!
Attendance Update (September 7-14, 2021)
The class this week with the BEST attendance was our 3rd grade class, led by superstars Mr. Dolan and Guest Educator Ms. Taylor!!
We calculate the number of unexcused absences in each class. The grade with the LEAST number of unexcused absences are the winner and will receive a special reward from the Principal!
Children's Book Mobile
The goal of the Bookmobile is to provide students with a wide variety of books they can take with them, read now, save for later, and have ownership of the books. I have printed up bookplates so that children can put their names in the books and have some ownership. Unlike the library, students will not need to return the books unless they choose to.
Many of the books come from the Children's Book Project, the SFPL, and friends. They are organized by age groups and range from board books to graphic novels. Most books will be for children ages 3-12.
I will be on the upper yard at Carver Elementary School on Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 1:00-4:00pm.
