Our K-5 Spirit Camp, held earlier this week, allowed our young campers to gain insight into the practices, routines, and the dedication that goes into our Spirit Team.
Over the course of the three-day camp, campers worked hard to memorize routines, build teamwork, and embrace the energy that makes our Spirit Team so special. At the end of the camp, they had the opportunity to showcase their newfound skills during our boys' volleyball game, where they proudly performed for their families and peers.
We want to take a moment to highlight the incredible mentorship and leadership demonstrated by our Spirit Team members. Thank you to everyone who made this event such a memorable experience. We look forward to more opportunities to celebrate the spirit and teamwork that make our school community so special.
The upcoming state-mandated testing, Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS), will take place throughout the month of April for students in grades third through eighth.
The results from CMAS testing are of the utmost importance to our school. They help us assess whether we are providing the best possible education, and enable us to make data-driven decisions to enhance our curriculum. These results guide our approach in refining our learning experience for all students. Our ultimate goal is to ensure the very best education for all of our students.
Please take note of the testing schedule for each grade level:
Third, Fourth Fifth, and Eighth Grades: These grades will test during both CMAS testing weeks—April 8-10 and April 15-17.
Seventh Grade: Seventh grade will test on April 8-10, as well as in the afternoon of April 15.
Sixth Grade: Sixth grade will test only from April 8-10, in the mornings until midday.
You can access the complete testing schedule below.
We ask for your partnership in encouraging your child to give their best effort during testing. Please remind them to work hard, stay positive, and not to stress about the results. Additionally, we appreciate it when medical appointments are scheduled around PCK testing dates and ensure your child enjoys a healthy breakfast before coming to school to help them focus.
We are still urgently searching for snack donations to support our third through eighth grade students during CMAS testing. Your contributions are vital to ensure our students stay energized throughout this important time.
Please donate boxes containing at least 24 individually wrapped, nut-free snacks to accommodate all allergies. Additionally, for every $25 spent on snacks, you will earn one hour of volunteer time, providing an easy way to contribute while supporting our students.
Donations can be dropped off at the front desk by Monday, March 31.
Before Spring Break, eighth grade students delved into the history of the 1800s, researching the key issues of the time as part of a hands-on learning experience.
As part of this project, our eighth graders recreated presidential campaigns from the 1800s. They researched the candidates of the era, created campaign posters and buttons, and utilized propaganda techniques to highlight the positive qualities of their chosen candidate while emphasizing the opposing candidate's weaknesses.
To bring this project to life, each student wrote and delivered an election speech, showcasing their understanding of the political climate of the time, while demonstrating their public speaking and presentation skills. Students not only gained a deeper understanding of the historical context and significance of the 1800s, but also developed essential skills in research, communication, and persuasion.
We are delighted to share our upcoming Boys Volleyball Camp for students in grades K-5, taking place on Thursday, April 10, from 3:15 to 4:35 p.m.
This camp will offer an inside look at how our volleyball team operates, including practice routines, and will feature fun games to help campers learn the fundamentals of the sport. Once the camp concludes, campers can be picked up at the west carpool loop.
We look forward to seeing our future Cougar athletes in action!
Please be advised that Homework Club will be canceled for the weeks of April 7 and April 14 due to conflicts with CMAS testing.

For this week’s Volunteer Spotlight we are proud to highlight Julie Garcia, who was an invaluable assistant coach for the third and fourth grade Battle of the Books team.
Her passion, dedication, and love for reading have been a constant source of inspiration for the students, helping them not only improve their comprehension skills but also foster a deeper excitement for reading. Julie brought patience and creativity to every practice, guiding the team through discussions, practice questions, and strategy sessions, ensuring each child felt confident and well-prepared.
Her generous commitment of time and energy each week was deeply appreciated, and we are incredibly grateful for all she did to support and encourage our young readers.
