Variety Show

Attention Students and Families!

The annual GRES Variety Show is coming soon! This year, we will have two separate performances on Thursday, February 6th and Friday, February 7th. Each act will perform in one of the two shows. Registration Form, linked here, is now open—please submit your forms and music (edited to 90 seconds) by Wednesday, January 8th. Auditions will be held on January 10th and 13th. We can’t wait to see your talents shine!

Principal's Message

Dear Garden Road Families,

This week, the students and staff returned well rested after a week off from school!

Toiletry Drive for Homeless

Girl Scout Troop 8355 will have a donation box in the office next week to collect toiletries for the homeless. They are looking for items such as shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, sunscreen, lip balm, toothpaste, tooth brushes, floss, body wash, mouthwash, lotion, wipes, razors and shaving cream. The collection will start on Monday, December 9 and will end on Friday, December 13.

Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee lists were handed out in class on Monday, December 2. The list of all study words for grades 1-8 is available here. Classrooms will have competitions to determine the top two spellers per class by December 13, 2024. The winners will compete in the all school Spelling Bee on the evening of January 9. Your classroom teacher can provide more details about what is happening in their classrooms for the spelling bee competition.

Library Corner

Hope you had a relaxing Thanksgiving break with your family! I was traveling to India last couple of weeks, attending family functions & a cousin's wedding.

Shopping, celebrating my Mom's birthday and meeting my 95-year-old grandma were the highlights of my trip! I also made a slideshow of my trip for the 4th & 5th graders and shared all the fun events with them. Indian weddings are loud, elaborate & extravagant in all possible ways! I was so glad to fly all the way alone to attend this 2ooo people celebration. And all the airports were beautifully decorated for the holidays ❤️

We have the Holiday shop in the library next week which the students will visit during their regular library time. The shop will be open for parents on Thursday 12/12, after dismissal till 2pm and then later 5pm-7pm during Family Fun Night. More details will come from your class teacher.
