SEPTEMBER 8, 2024
Hello, Donald Families!
While most of our newsletters start with messages of excitement, this one begins with a heavy reminder. Wednesday of this week marks 23 year since the events that shook our nation on September 11, 2001. In honor of Patriot Day, all LISD students will hear the following information from their teacher prior to participating in a moment of silence as required by Education Code 25.082:
“September 11th is known as Patriot Day. On this day we remember the people who made brave choices and showed great courage as our country was attacked on September 11th, 2001. The United States is proudly known as ‘the land of the free and the home of the brave’. As we observe a minute of silence on this day let us remember these people who were brave 22 years ago and focus how we can be brave and have courage as we make choices today.”
Knowing this event is something difficult to discuss with young children, we wanted to take a moment to let you know about the information that will be shared in classrooms on this day. We hope you will continue the discussion with your child at home, and we hope you will take a moment to remember those who died during this tragedy.
We hope you have had many opportunities to enjoy time with your family over the weekend, and we look forward to seeing all our Dolphins at school tomorrow!

We are so excited to be celebrating Kindness Week again this year as a district! Kindness Week is a time to focus on what we can do as an individual, as a class, and as a campus to spread kindness to our school and in our community. September 16 through 20 we will participate in dress up days as reminders to spread kindness, and we will be organizing other activities for students throughout the week. To kick off Kindness Week, we would love some volunteers to come up to campus on Sunday, September 15th to decorate our sidewalks with kindness! Sidewalk chalk will be available under the awning to write a kind message or picture for our campus to see the next morning. Thank you for your support in kicking off Kindness Week!
I will be addressing Emotional Regulation & Coping Skills during the month of September in guidance lessons for all grades. This week the classroom teachers will teach the second lesson of unit 1 in our Second Step Curriculum. If you are interested in previewing that lesson click this link - Second Step Lesson 2

FMHS ROSETTES FALL DANCE CAMP
TRINITY RIVER ANNUAL ART CONTEST
TRA’s 2024 Art Contest has begun! This year's theme, "The Trinity River: Our Shared Home", invites students to explore the interconnected story of the Trinity River Basin. It’s a place where millions of Texans and a wide range of species coexist, relying on its rich resources and diverse ecosystems. Through their artwork, students can depict the vital relationships between the river, the river inhabitants, and the broader environment.
The contest is open to students in 1st through 8th Grade who live in or go to school in the TRA customer cities outside the TRA Board Counties. This includes Flower Mound! Winners will be chosen from each grade level, and will receive prizes and recognition. Information about the contest and past winners can be views at https://trinityra.org/art, and you can find the entry information in the document attached below. Entries must be submitted by September 30!
FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE @ BLUEBONNET
The Friday Nite Live team is excited to greet your children again this year and they have planned lots of new and engaging activities in which the kids can participate! Each year FNL requires that parents complete a NEW membership form with their child’s/children’s information along with parent’s contact information, home address, cell phone numbers, emails, etc. Print and complete the membership form linked below and bring to Friday Nite Live. Please make sure all information is clear and readable. In the event of an emergency, we need to be positive that all information can be understood. Additionally, the form has space for multiple children’s names as long as they are IN THE SAME FAMILY. Friends should not be on each other’s forms. The legal parent or guardian must complete the form.
Bring the form with you the first time you attend FNL for the year and we won’t require another form unless you let us know information has changed. This will also help our line move quicker on the first few nights of our program.
If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to like or follow our Facebook page, go online and check us out.
Bluebonnet Friday Nite Live | Flower Mound TX
Our beginning year theme is “It’s Going to Be a Bright Year” and the first 20 kids in line on Sept. 6th, will receive a FREE pair of neon-colored sunglasses!
We would love to have you volunteer in our classrooms and at extracurricular events! To get started, JOIN the Donald PTA, and then complete your yearly VOLY Background Check. All volunteers must have a current VOLY Background Check, so if it has been a while since you completed this process, check in with the Donald Office Staff to see if you're approved!
GET VOLY-APPROVED TODAY!
Lewisville ISD's volunteer site, VOLY, is up and ready for the new school year.
