A Note from Mr. Whitehouse-Mullen
✏️ April Recess Edition
Happy April Recess, Doyon Families! 🌷☀️
We hope you enjoy a week full of rest, sunshine, and special moments with your amazing kiddos. 🏡💛 It’s been a busy and exciting stretch here at school, and your children have earned this well-deserved break! 🎉😴
Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for Comic-Con last night! 🦸♀️📚 We had an incredible turnout from across the Ipswich community, and it was wonderful to see you all. A big shoutout to our fabulous School Librarians for organizing such a fun and creative event! 🎨👏
Our second graders recently enjoyed a visit from the Plimoth Patuxet Museum, where they learned about the Wampanoag people through real artifacts and stories. 🪶🛖 What a meaningful way to connect with history!
Meanwhile, our third graders hit the streets of downtown Ipswich to explore the rich history of our very own community. 🏛️👟 This trip is always a highlight, and it continues to bring classroom learning to life in the best way.
We also had a special visit from author Victoria Jamieson, who shared her creative journey with our students—from idea to publication! ✍️📖✨ Our learners were completely captivated.
There will be no Doyon News next Friday, April 25 as we all enjoy a bit of a break. As always, please reach out if you need anything over recess—we're always here to support you. 💬🤗
Wishing you a joyful and relaxing week,
Mr. Whitehouse-Mullen

News from Room 305! 🐾
Our young writers in Room 305 have been hard at work during our Creature Feature module in Wit & Wisdom! As we wrapped up the unit, students teamed up to write persuasive letters to the Stone Zoo. Each group chose an animal we studied and shared their opinion on why the zoo should consider adopting it. They highlighted fascinating facts and unique features—these letters were full of passion, creativity, and some seriously strong arguments! We’re so proud of their teamwork and writing skills. Way to go, 305!

🚶♀️🚴♂️ Walk, Bike & Roll to School – Wednesday, May 7! 🌞🎒
We’re excited for our next Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day coming up on Wednesday, May 7! 💙
We know this date falls on an MCAS testing day, so we want to reassure families that participation is completely optional—you know what’s best for your child. That said, research shows that a little movement in the morning can help boost focus and reduce stress before testing, so it might be a great way to start the day! 🧠💪
🚴♂️ Interested in Biking?
Our biking group will leave from Ipswich High School at 8:00 AM. We're working with the Ipswich Police Department to have an officer lead the way 🚓, and our wonderful Mrs. Welch will once again join the riders.
👟 Prefer to Walk?
Our walking group will head out from Mile Lane at 8:15 AM, led by Mrs. Cardew.Everyone is welcome—we love seeing families join in for a cheerful morning stroll to school!
Nurse's Notes 🩺📓
🌸 Hello Doyon Families! 🌸
Happy springtime! We’re loving the sunshine, the flowers, and all the extra outside time. 😎🌼 But while the weather is warming up, a few pesky bugs are still hanging around—and we’re not just talking about the ones in the garden!
🐛 Flu B is still buzzing around!
We’re seeing more cases of Flu B in all grade levels. Signs to watch for include:
😴 Feeling extra tired
🤒 High fevers
😷 Cough, runny nose, sore throat
😖 Body aches or tummy troubles
Please keep an eye on your kiddos, and if they’re not feeling their best, it’s okay to let them rest and recover at home. A little extra rest can go a long way! The flu and other bugs can sometimes lead to things like ear infections or even pneumonia—especially in our younger learners—so let’s all work together to keep our school community as healthy as can be!
😷 A few cases of strep, too!
Strep throat has been popping up here and there, mostly in our older students. If your child has a sore throat with a fever, it’s worth checking in with your doctor.
🕷️ Tick season is HERE!
With all the outdoor fun, don’t forget to check for ticks—especially behind ears, along the hairline, and around the waistband and socks.
Here’s how to safely remove a tick if you find one.
If a tick’s been on for more than 36–48 hours, keep an eye out for symptoms of Lyme disease like:
🎯 A bull’s-eye rash
🦵 Achy joints
🌡️ Fever
If you're ever unsure, your child’s doctor or our health office is happy to help!
🌟 Thanks for helping us keep our Tigers healthy and happy this spring! 🌟
We’re always here if you have any questions.
Here’s to a bright, healthy season full of giggles, growth, and good vibes!
🐯💚💙🧡
Warmly, Nurse Sforza 🩺😊
