A few Words from Mrs. Buch and Mr. Walton
This week we welcomed back all of our hybrid learners. It was nice to see so many smiling faces. Scott and I visited classrooms each morning. Starting our day with bright smiles from our "roomers" and "zoomers" was terrific!
A few things to keep on your radar...
- As much as we love dogs, it is important that they not be brought onto school property during school hours. We have students who can become fearful, and we would not want to have an unfortunate situation.
- Drivers should not get out of their cars while in the drop-off and pick-up lane. Also, students must open the door on the sidewalk side of the vehicle. Feel free to park and walk up to school if your child will need more assistance.
- Students who are going home for lunch must sign out and in with a staff member. Please click here to access the Home Lunch form.
We wish you a healthy and happy weekend!
~Ann and Scott
Results from the Wolverine Whodunnit!
Thanks to all of the families who participated in our first-ever, Westgate Whodunnit! We had over 45 families and over 65 students! Great job to everyone who submitted their answers and everyone who joined the hunt for the missing mascot costume. For those of you who did not submit an answer or couldn't find all of the clues, it was:
MR. WALTON, at 9 O'CLOCK and he took it to the POLICE STATION.
We have some great raffle prizes from some great local businesses who were generous enough to donate some nice gift certificates. The following prizes will be raffled off to families who submitted the correct answer:
$50 Gift card - Peggy Kinnanes
$30 gift card - Sweet T's
$25 gift card - Rep's Place
$10 gift card - Scratchboard Kitchen
5-12oz or less yogurt cups - Berry Yo
We are still working through all of the awards for all of the student participants who submitted correct answers. They will receive either a Westgate face mask or a gift card to one of these fine businesses. Thanks again to these great local businesses for their support!
Congrats to all who participated and keep an eye out for more information about your prize delivery. A HUGE thank you to Ed Bjes, our President-Elect for all his hard work on this fun activity. We appreciate your creativity and the time you spent planning and implementing this game. Also thank you to the staff who volunteered as suspects.
Attention Parents of 5th Graders
Candor Health Education is providing a Live Virtual overview of their programs for parents. The program will be 90 minutes long. Below is some information about the programs they offer. Contact Melanie Zenisek at mzenisek@sd25.org with questions.
The Science Behind Drugs helps students make healthy choices to lead a drug-free life. Students will learn how drugs affect the body systems, especially the brain, which can lead to addiction. Students will also learn refusal skills to arm them with tools to help them make positive decisions regarding drug use.
Puberty I-Understanding Changes recognizes the significance of physical body changes that occur during puberty and encourages students to maintain a healthy body image, showing respect for others and self-esteem are also emphasized.
Life Begins teaches students about the functions of the reproductive system, which is one of the body systems studied in fifth grade. The program also includes the development of a fetus from conception to birth.
The parent night is November 10th at 7 pm
