Valentine's Dance Rescheduled!
Dear Parents,
With the increase in Flu A, Flu B, RSV, Norovirus and other contagious illnesses going around, please remember to follow the guidelines below. Please do not send your child to school with any of the following symptoms:
• Fever of 100.0 or more
• Vomiting with or without fever
• Diarrhea with or without fever
• Severe Cough
• Suspected Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)
• Open sores that cannot be covered by a band-aid
• An undiagnosed/untreated rash
This will greatly reduce the passage of infectious illnesses to our students and staff. He/she may not return to school until they are well (no fever, no vomiting, no diarrhea) without medication for a full day (24 hours), unless otherwise noted to be not contagious by a physician (such as with an ear infection). The doctor’s excuses must include the date seen and the date to return to school. They should also include any restrictions or instructions related to school. I
f you need more information, please contact KSB nurses.

Dorm Happenings
Hello Folks, and welcome to the 3rd edition into the new calendar year for the happenings of the Howser Dorm here on the rainy and chilly KSB campus. It has been a week of ups and downs in the temperature and weather department as " Mother Nature" tempted us with a near record high on Monday and then by Wednesday afternoon it was cold and rainy.
Sunday kicked off the week with a very unusual check-in afternoon which was really out of the ordinary for our staff, students and bus drivers. After check in the students ate a meal in their dorms with dorm parents and then went to Rec. Gym with Mr. Larry where they participated in remote control driving cars with some cool racing around the gym. Students also had a good time playing on the bouncy mat and riding bicycles. Some of the students watched the NFL play-off game with the Eagles and the Commanders and had a snack.
Monday the elementary students enjoyed their first time outside this year on the playground and riding bikes outside on the sidewalk as the temperature was up close to 70. After supper on Monday the middle and high school students spent time outside on the playground and some went inside and played video games on the Big Screen TV. Another group went into the gym and played on the ever-popular bouncy mat, rode bikes and shot basketball. A bowl of ice cream was awarded to this group for participation and was requested because of the warmer weather. It was a well deserving treat for the group as we have not had ice cream since last spring.
On Tuesday night the elementary students took a field trip to Chic-Fil-A. The students were given a budget on how much they could spend on a meal; The middle school and high school student went to th Rec Gym to play games and watch the U K basketball game. There were some long faces after the U K game.
Wednesday brought us back to reality that we live in Kentucky and the weather changes drastically in short periods of time. The elementary students played in rec gym and played the piano and rode bikes and then went to the cafeteria and ate a taco salad meal prepared by Ms. Tamika.
Thursday, we finished off the week with another Field Trip to the mall with the girls and they got to shop for Valentines Day gifts and get decorations for the upcoming Valentines Day party. It has been a busy week and a week where all dorm staff members stepped up and answered the call when they had to overcome obstacles. The students remained steadfast and sturdy, and most made it through the week for another productive week at Howser Dorm. Reminder of the possibility of cold and snowy weather for next week so bring clothes accordingly and also that next Thursday is our Valentines Day party in the Rec gym from 6-8.
Until Next Time.
