Navigating Your Way to Success
Developed by the Weikert Center for Youth Program Quality, and funded by the Michigan Department of Education
The mission of Navigating Your Way to Success: Youth, Families and Schools Aligned and Connected is to provide positive developmental supports and academic socialization for youth by building partnerships between families, schools, afterschool programs, and communities. The courses in this series build upon the family engagement experience, culminating in a final celebration event with young people, families, school staff, and out-of-school time staff.
Navigating Your Way to Success
Throughout this course series (7 courses) you'll be introduced to the central themes of the Navigating Your Way to Success program. The courses cover topics including: families and adolescent development, how to support youth and families academically, teaching adolescents about personality and personal strength, 21st century skills and educational pathways, and how to empower youth to develop goals and plans supported by their families.
Each of the courses guides you through a series of activities to lead students and their families through. They culminate with a student led conference that caps off the entire process and series.
