💭 Superintendent's Message
Dear Northfield School District Families:
We are so excited to welcome your students back to our schools on Tuesday, Sept. 3. While I love the entire school year, the beginning is quite special. There is optimism about the potential the school year holds. Everyone has a fresh start.
We strive to prepare every student for lifelong success by developing critical thinkers who are curious and ready to engage in our society. We pursue that vision through a partnership with you. Do not hesitate to email or call your child’s teacher or principal if you have a concern — or something positive to report. We do this vital work together. We want to hear from you. It is a privilege to do our part.
I am looking forward to a wonderful 2024-25 school year! As always, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Matt

📣 Carleton pledges $2 Million toward Reimagine Northfield High School proposal
As I shared with you on Thursday, Carleton has pledged $2 million toward the facility improvements included in the Reimagine Northfield High School proposal.
If the first question passes on November 5, 2024, this means the district would sell $2 million less in bonds than proposed.
This generous pledge from Carleton marks a unique milestone, being the first of its kind from a Minnesota private college towards a public school district bond referendum project.
We held a celebratory announcement event at Northfield High School this morning. You can access the event video through Northfield Live.
This pledge is a historic investment in public schools by a Minnesota private college and exemplifies the district’s strategic commitment to partnerships. For one of the nation’s most prestigious colleges to invest in our school district to help it thrive shows its deep commitment to our community. I’m humbled and so grateful on behalf of the school board, students, staff, families, and taxpayers of the Northfield School District. This pledge will help us accelerate the pursuit of our vision to prepare every student for lifelong success while demonstrating our commitment to stewardship.
You can learn more about the Reimagine Northfield High School proposal here. Our next tour is tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 31, at 10 am. Enter at Door No. 10 by the parking lot and meet in the media center.

1400 Division Street South, Northfield, MN, USA
🚧 Division Street construction impacts NHS traffic
The City of Northfield’s construction along Division Street is temporarily altering the traffic at Northfield High School’s main entrance. Construction is expected to last about two more weeks. To prioritize safety:
Only right turns will be allowed from the high school exit.
Vehicles who want to travel north should exit right, use the roundabout at the intersection with Jefferson Parkway, and return northbound.
I know this is an inconvenience, but it will promote safety during the remained of the construction project.
You can read the City of Northfield’s press release here. Contact Engineering Manager Sean Simonson with questions at 507-645-3049.
