Little Things
Greetings Dealey Community!
“Find magic in the little things, and the big things you always expected will start to show up.”
― Isa Zapata
🍭Life is full of the little things. Oftentimes we are presented with the big life events. However, very few people talk about the little things that made it happen. We can all show support and uplift each other. I have found that the biggest secret to true happiness is focusing on the little things.
A Starbucks Frappuccino, a morning hug from a PK/K student , a donut 🍩 from Bella’s Dad , chocolates 🍫 from Mrs. Livingston or a “I’m glad you are here” note is truly so special for the staff. I am so thankful for each and everyone of you. Everyday, you are doing those little things that bring happiness to our community.
We are also grateful for everyone that brought treats to school for administrative professionals Day. Thank you to our amazing front office staff for the little things you do that make us great!
Go Fabulous Five!
We are coming into a few weeks of fun activities before MAP & ACPs. This week is all about Field Day! All parents that have signed up to volunteer should complete Voly and bring your drivers license for Raptor approval. Parents, you may take your students home early after field day. Please make sure to sign them out in the front office. Thank you to all parent volunteers, the PTA , Coach Loud and entire committee. We appreciate you all.
🎉Congratulations to our Lone Star 🌟 Challenge team for winning second place 🥈 overall on this past Saturday. They also won 3rd 🥉 place in costumes. Great job Ms. Cho & Ms. Thompson!
Sending love ❤️ to Ms. Powell & the students that were in the play “Totally Red” Magnificent Production! 🎭 Bravo!
This week is a four day week with Friday off. 🎊
We only have 4 more Mondays until summer!
Let’s fill it with all the little things that make us smile.😃
We are Soaring to New Horizons!
Love❤️ Principal Garrett

24-25 Classroom Placement Guidelines
Dear Families,
Over the next few weeks, we will begin the process of assigning students to an appropriate class for next year. The Dealey staff spends much time and effort on this placement process. In putting together class lists for next year, we will consider many factors including research-based grouping strategies. We utilize the classroom teacher’s knowledge of every student, and in addition, our academic support teachers (504, ESOL, SPED), specialists, counselors and administrators provide input and review the proposed class lists.
Given the complexity of placing all students, we will NOT consider the following requests:
· Requests for a specific teacher.
· Requests that specific students be placed with your child.
· Requests NOT to have a specific teacher, unless you have had another child with that teacher in the past.
Your child’s classroom teacher will be sent out to you by July 28th.
Please understand that once homeroom teachers are assigned and students are placed, the lists are final. Moving even one child from a class can upset the balance of a classroom or interfere with scheduling.
Students approach the new school year in a positive light when we encourage them to be excited about making new friends and getting to know a new teacher.
We will not conduct individual conferences with the administration or counselors regarding placement.
If you need to file a placement complaint, you will be required to go through the formal Dallas ISD Appeal process. You will have only 10 business days after receipt of placement to file your formal appeal to the campus principal.
Again, each Dealey student will be hand placed with great care. Each student’s emotional well-being and academic success is our priority!
Sincerely,
Dealey Placement Committees
School Lunch Hero Day is May 2, 2024
Dallas ISD’s Food and Child Nutrition Services is honored to celebrate and recognize our hard-working cafeteria staff across the district. From preparing healthy foods for thousands of students, adhering to strict nutrition standards and navigating student food allergies, to offering service with a smile, Dallas ISD nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate.
Help us celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 2nd by having teachers and their classes write notes of appreciation to your cafeteria staff. You can find coloring sheets and card templates on our website, www.dallasisd.org/FCNS. If possible, please post them in the cafeteria to celebrate their service.
On May 2nd, we will be celebrating lunch heroes with a “superhero” dress code. Cafeteria staff will have the opportunity to dress up like true heroes. Please encourage students and parents to participate in the voting contest available at www.Dallasisd.org/FCNS to appreciate their hard work. The school with the most votes will be recognized across the district.

SchooLinks is a college and career readiness program that helps K-12th grade students discover their interests and strength, explore colleges and careers, and create a personal graduation plan that best reflects their post-secondary goals.
The district mandates that kindergarteners choose one to three jobs they are interested in. This must be completed in Clever. Tablets are required for students complete this task.
Based on the shared schedule, my goal is to work with small groups in my office. Please be aware that the timeline could change depending on how soon I can finish working with each group.----------------------------------
