"Paws"itive Pal
This Week’s Pawsitive Pal is Mrs. Angela Masser. A valued member of our English Department, Mrs. Masser teaches English 1, African American Literature, Creative Writing, and Public Speaking. Her classroom is widely regarded as the most beautifully decorated in the high school, creating an engaging and inspiring environment for her students. Beyond her impeccable fashion sense, Mrs. Masser has also gone above and beyond by designing interactive curriculum stations that make learning both dynamic and meaningful. Outside the classroom, Mrs. Masser is a proud Lion, actively supporting multiple athletic teams. She previously coached cheerleading and is currently lending her inspirational talents to the girls’ wrestling team. Thank you, Mrs. Masser, for your dedication, creativity, and unwavering commitment to the Red Lion community!
Preparing for Winter
If we need to close our facilities due to inclement weather or an emergency, we will continue to notify you via phone, email, website, text message, and social media. These communications will detail the use of a Lions Virtual Learning Day (LVLD) and the day will not require us to use a make-up day.
If there is a traditional snow day (as Monday and Tuesday were) there will be no synchronous or asynchronous instruction.
If we do have a LVLD, please refer to the graphic below to see what time your student needs to attend a Google Meet, which is how attendance will be taken. If your family experiences issues with Internet connectivity, please reach out to their school counselor.
Lion Locker
The Lion Locker is open Semester 2 during periods 4, 5, 6, and 7. If you need the Lion Locker outside those periods, see the Main Office or Counseling Department.
The Red Lion Area School District is proud to announce a generous donation from Flying Feet, a beloved specialty athletic store in Spring Garden Township, which recently closed its doors after nearly five decades of service to the York community. Owned and operated by Red Lion resident Greg Baum, Flying Feet has been a cherished fixture in the area for 49 years.
In a remarkable gesture of community support, Mr. Baum donated his remaining shoe inventory to the Red Lion Area School District. The shoes have been collected and inventoried by the district’s social workers and will be distributed to students in need through the Senior High School's "Lion Locker." This initiative allows students to shop for clothing and hygiene items at no cost, ensuring they have access to essential resources.
The Red Lion Area School District extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Baum for his unwavering commitment to supporting our students and the local community. As he embarks on a well-deserved retirement, we wish him all the best. Thank you, Mr. Baum, for exemplifying the spirit of generosity, you truly have the heart of a LION!
Athletics
Attention Spring Athletes - physicals due in Rankone February 17th! See below:
ATHLETICS UPDATE:
New this season, we will no longer be accepting paper copies of physical paperwork. ALL PAPERWORK MUST BE HANDED IN ON RANKONE. This is for many reasons, the most important being that we can have virtual access to physicals at all times in the case of an emergency. Additionally, this will help us immensely with our administrative load.
Please have students either contact their coach or email us at ATstaff@rlasd.net if they are having troubles uploading. Please do not forward them my email address.
If anyone has questions regarding the paperwork process, please direct them to our website at this link: https://www.rlasd.net/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=4276102&type=d&pREC_ID=2522756

Important Information
Information Regarding Good Standing Status
Attention Parents, Guardians and Students: We are continuing to monitor data to determine which students are in good standing and those that are not. If a student is not in good standing their privileges to the cafe will be revoked for one week. Grade and attendance reports are generated on Thursday mornings at 9am. Students and guardians will receive notification Thursday afternoon by email to notify them if they able to visit our wonderful cafe. Participation in the end of the marking period reward and other events can be determined by a student's good standing status. Please reach out to your assistant principal if you have any questions or concerns.
Criteria used to determine good standing:
1. Students must maintain passing grades (60% or higher for the marking period grade). Students are allowed to have one course grade lower than 60%.
2. Students must have 9 or fewer unexcused absences in the past two months.
3. Students must adhere to the student code of conduct as explained in the Student Handbook. Repeated or multiple minor infractions or serious violations result in being removed from good standing.
