Principal's Message
Hello CV Family,
I appreciate our students and staff and how smoothly we have kicked off this year. This newsletter is packed with information that we have to get out so please take your time looking through the information we are sharing. I know it is long, but the newsletter is an excellent source of information and is linked on our website for you to go back and refer to at your convenience. Typically I will highlight important information that is contained within the newsletter or information I want to personally share with our school community in the format of Three Dots from Mr. Dumas:
Traffic Adjustment: Shout out to the Town of Gilbert for clearing construction from Germann Road before the start of the school year! We do have an adjustment to our campus traffic flow during school hours. The change will only affect those coming to campus during the school day as we create a single entry and exit off Quartz Street during school hours. Please be mindful that Coyote Drive will not provide access to the west parking lot or our campus during school hours, but it will be open before and after school.
Open House/Curriculum Night 8/11 6-7:30 pm: This event is a great opportunity to meet teachers and get to know your students' classes for this year. We are continuing the drop-in format, so everyone has more time and space to interact with their teachers in a more personal environment. You can drop in at whatever time is best for you and your family between 6 and 7:30 pm. When you arrive on campus on Thursday, you are encouraged to walk your student’s schedules and meet their teachers while learning about their classrooms. We know your schedules outside of school are busy, so we offer this more flexible drop-in format. School maps of our campus will be available when you arrive, and students and staff will be here to answer your questions. More information will be provided early next week.
CVHS Site Council: We are again looking for parents and community members to form our site council. If you are interested in serving on the site council, please use the following link to nominate yourself as a potential committee member. The site council comprises representatives from the Campo Verde community. The council meets with the Principal and other school staff monthly during the school year to discuss various topics, share information and broaden understanding of school-related issues.
Members work together to:
- Advance the action steps of Campo Verde’s Continuous Improvement Plan.
- Ensure effective involvement of parents and community to support the partnership between school and community stakeholders.
- Involve parents and the community in an organized and timely manner with the planning, review, and implementation of programs and policies of Campo Verde and Gilbert Public Schools.
The role of a Site Council member is to:
Attend the monthly Site Council meetings.
Meeting dates: 9/14, 10/26, 11/30, 1/25, 2/22, & 4/26
Time: 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Location: Room 113 Student Services (front office)
Provide information to parents and the community regarding school issues.
Bring questions, concerns, and ideas to the attention of school staff, administration, and other school community stakeholders.
Provide the Principal with feedback and insight from the parent’s perspective on the school processes, policies, and initiatives to ensure that the needs of parents and their families are included as decisions are made in the school.
Recruit parents for involvement in professional development opportunities, meetings, conferences, and other related activities designed to enhance the role of parents in supporting the education of their children and advancing their own educational needs.
Review and recommend how the school’s budget can be best utilized to support the needs of all Campo Verde students.

Parking Permit
Due to limited availability, parking permits are issued on a first come, first served basis to licensed senior, junior or sophomore. No permits will be issued to unlicensed drivers. Learner's Permits are not accepted. School parking permits MUST be visible in any vehicle you drive to school. Any student caught parking on campus without a parking permit will lose their ability to get a parking permit. Students found parking on campus without a Campo Verde Parking Permit will receive a warning sticker. After the student has been issued three warnings, security will be putting a boot on the car. A parent or guardian will be required to meet with administration prior to removal of the boot.
Parking permits will not be prorated, the cost is $60.00 regardless of when the parking permit is purchased. When permits are sold out there will be a wait list, students wanting a permit will need to request to be placed on the waiting list and will be notified if a permit becomes available.
Make sure all of your fines/fees are paid by following these directions. This year, no permits will be issued to students with outstanding fines/fees.
After it is confirmed that the Campo student has no fines/fees, a parent or guardian will have to fill out this Google form. Filling out this form indicates that you are applying for a student parking permit at Campo Verde High School for the 2022-2023 school year. Filling out this form is a request and you are not guaranteed a permit. Your response can be accessed and edited at any time by clicking the Google form link found in this email, and in every newsletter for the upcoming year. It is your responsibility to update your form with any vehicle changes throughout the year. You may also do this by contacting the bookstore. If rules and regulations are not followed you will be subject to having parking privileges revoked. Your response will be put into a spreadsheet to be confirmed.
During their allotted time, students may come to the school with their license (photo copies not accepted) to purchase and receive their official 22-23 parking permit. Reminder, filling out the Google form does NOT guarantee you a permit. If you have fines/fees, no current license, or the Google form isn’t filled out correctly we will not be issuing you a parking permit.
August 8th- SOPHOMORES may come in during school hours to pay for and receive their official 22-23 parking permit. Passes to class will not be issued so please plan accordingly.
While you are in the bookstore to purchase your permits, check out our new Thread™ lanyards and elastic wallets, shirts and sweatshirts, get new PE clothes, and SENIORS, grab a senior yard sign to celebrate this momentous year!

Picture Days
These photos will be used for yearbook photos AND student I.D's for 9, 10 & 11th grade.
Seniors: This photo will be used only for your student I.D.'s. Your yearbook photo will be the Senior Portrait you take at Lou Coopey's studio or on the days Lou Coopey is on campus specifically for your Senior Portraits.
Retake day will be September 27, 2022 @Auditorium
9, 10 & 11th grade: Retakes will be during your lunch time only.
Seniors: This is the first day of Senior Portraits on campus. Your scheduled times are:
7:30-10:30am and 12:30 -2:00pm. Please do not come during your lunch time, as the backdrop will be set up for the underclassmen at that time.
TOYBOX Photo Day is November 10, 2022 at 9:00am
Pictures will be taken on the playground.
Senior Panoramic Photo day is November 15, 2022 at 7:30am @ Main Gym
Seniors: This will be your Senior Portrait LAST CHANCE, shortly after the Senior Panoramic photo is taken. Don't forget to have a change of formal clothes to change into for your Senior Portrait.

Yearbooks may be pre-ordered at a reduced price of $65 until Sept. 5 through the yearbook order center: https://www.yearbookordercenter.com.
The school code for the order center is 16196.
Yearbook orders may also be purchased through Infinite Campus or the bookstore. Please note that there is a fee for all transactions made through Infinite Campus and Herff Jones.

Seniors: Senior portraits taken at the Lou Coopey Studio are the photos included in the yearbook for seniors– ID photos for seniors, taken on campus, are NOT included in the yearbook. It is important that seniors have their portraits taken at the Lou Coopey Studio (480-830-5667) in Mesa.

Senior Yearbook Pictures
Welcome, Class of 2023!
The first step of your senior journey is to have your portrait taken for the yearbook. The yearbook's deadline for senior pictures is September 4, 2022. In order to meet this deadline, we have partnered with Lou Coopey Photography in Mesa, AZ to take your yearbook photos.
There are two options: One is no charge, the other requires a $40.00 online deposit. Please read through this letter completely for details and choose the option that works best for you.

OPTION 1 ($40.00 deposit, $50.00 credit to account at Professional Studio)
Schedule an online appointment with Lou Coopey to have your portrait taken at their Mesa studio located at: 202 N Lindsay Rd, Mesa, AZ 85213 before the September deadline.
Key Information about Option 1:
- A $40 deposit will be collected at the time of online scheduling.
- This deposit, along with $10 credit ($50.00 total) will be applied to each account to purchase portraits and services offered by Lou Coopey.
- Return your proof book within 30 days and receive a refund of your $40.00 deposit.
- After 30 days, the $10 complimentary credit will expire.
- The $40 remains on account and can be used for any senior portrait purchase.

- To ensure the safety of all seniors the following protocols are in place for the photo session:
- All procedures will be as contact-free as possible.
- The studio will be limiting the number of appointments per day to allow for social distancing.
- Face masks and hand sanitizer are recommended, but not required.
- Seniors will need to come dressed to impress (Collared shirt, tie, suit jacket, dress, and/or professional blouse).
- It is recommended that Seniors bring their own clothing. However, if necessary, the studio will provide loaner jackets, ties, and drapes as needed.
- The loaner cap and gown are sanitized on site in commercial dryers between appointments per CDC sanitation requirements.
- All studio services beyond the sitting (scheduling, ordering pictures, and paying fees) will be conducted online.
- Senior sessions will include 9-14 poses on a variety of backgrounds including Cap & Gown photos for graduation.
- All post-sitting contact will be done online (choosing the yearbook pose, ordering photos, and any additional payment.)
OPTION 2 ($0.00 on Campus Picture Day)
Take your senior yearbook photo on campus on senior picture day (Date to Be Determined).
Key Information about Option 2:
- A limited number of poses will be taken on the yearbook background only.
- Students must be dressed to impress (collared shirt, tie, dress, and/or professional blouse) for their senior portrait.
NOTE: For both options, students must dress to impress (collared shirt, tie, suit jacket, dress, and/or professional blouse/professional wear). Clothing must be free of logos/signage/text and should not be transparent or too revealing. Head wear is not permitted (except in the case of religious or medical purposes).

Seal of Biliteracy
Congratulations to the 2022 Arizona State Seal of Biliteracy Recipients!
Weslee Nguyen, a 2022 CVHS graduate has received the Seal of Biliteracy from the state of Arizona and Gilbert Public Schools. He qualified for this achievement because of his superior scores on the Spanish Language Advanced Placement exam and AP English exam. Recipients receive a certificate of achievement and a seal to place on their diplomas. Congratulations to Wesley and his language teachers for this accomplishment.

HOSA bowl
Seniors Lauren Christensen, Evan Hankinson, Tytus Wolf, Ellynor Conrad
These 4 took on a HOSA BOWL event that provided members with the opportunity to compete on various topics and situations in health, HOSA, and parliamentary procedure. This past April, they competed amongst other AZ teams and placed 1st. This qualified them for the international competition this past June in Nashville, Tennessee. Round 1 consisted of a multiple choice test of knowledge based questions. The top 32 teams advanced to the second round where they were placed in a bracket style competition. (Think family feud with jeopardy questions). After winning each round they found themselves competing for the final round of competition where they placed in a tie and were forced to overtime. They finished as 2nd place winners beating out other states and countries from across the world. They were recognized on stage at the awards ceremony where they each received a medal.
