SIX EAGLES BOUND FOR NATIONALS!
Huge accomplishment for six debate students! For the first time in school history, Argyle High School debate has qualified for the National Tournament!
Last week, the debate team competed in a four-day national qualifying tournament. These six students have qualified for the nationals in Phoenix, Arizona.

Grant Parris & Addison High in CX Debate
Srimaan Kolanakuduru in US Extemporaneous Speaking
They competed against some of the best debate students in the nation from some of the top Class 6A and Class 5A schools.

South Elementary CHESS STARS Take Top Honors!
Argyle ISD has some pretty amazing chess players!
Congratulations to South Elementary Chess Stars Chandrodaya Boopathi, Kaarthi Kotha & Ednit Rajesh! They earned some of the top honors at the Region III K-12 Scholastic Chess Tournament last weekend at the Music City Mall in Lewisville.
Chandrodaya Boopathi (1st Grade) won the 1ST PLACE championship in the Kindergarten-1st Grade section. Kaarthi (4th Grade) finished in 11TH PLACE and Ednit (5th Grade) finished in 4TH PLACE.
Argyle South Elementary won 2ND PLACE as a team!
School Board Election Update
The Argyle ISD School Board Election will be held May 6, 2023. The election will include Places 1, 2 and 3 on the ballot.
Place 1 will include candidates Craig Hawkesworth (incumbent) and Tori Ryon. Place 2 candidates will include Nick Reynolds and Leigh Ann Artho. Place 3 will include Sam Slaton (incumbent) and he will run unopposed.

Eagles Shine At Rotary Competition!
Argyle High School students showcased their talents recently at the annual Rotary Club 4-Way Test competition. The four-way test is of things we think, say or do and six students participated in the event.
- Is it the truth?
- Is it fair to all concerned?
- Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
- Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
Caleb Leonard took first place, Srimaan Kolanakuduru was second and Liyah Cha was third overall. Each student spoke on the four-way test for up to five minutes. Caleb will move on the regional competition.

Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day!
Argyle ISD recognized its Maintenance Department on Friday which was Maintenance Worker Appreciation Day! We are so grateful for all they do to help maintain our schools, facilities, classrooms and grounds! Special thanks to the department for their assistance at Hilltop Elementary on Friday during the morning power outage.

The town of Argyle recently made a $25,000 donation to the district during the February School Board Meeting. The donation was made via the town's Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.
Argyle Town Council Member, Ron Schmidt, was in attendance to present the donation to the School Board and Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright.
The Talon News: Ads Available for Senior Edition!
The Talon News is now selling Senior and Business advertisements for the Senior Edition print magazine! The magazine will be distributed to parents and students at graduation. Ad prices and flyers are available on the graphic.
Printing prices have doubled this year, so ad prices have increased. However, The Talon News is entirely self-funded and all proceeds from ad sales will directly help cover equipment, workshops, contest fees, publishing costs, and more. All purchases or donations are gratefully received!
Tiny Eagles Storytime - March 27
If you have a little Eagle, be sure to join us at Argyle South Elementary on Monday, March 27. The South Elementary library will host children ages 0-3 at 10:30 a.m. Come enjoy story-telling and songs.
All Eagles families are welcome. Please be sure to bring ID when checking in at the front desk of the campus, which is located at 11800 Denton Creek Blvd. in Canyon Falls.
Mommy & Me Dance - March 25
Don't miss the Argyle West Elementary Mommy & Me Dance coming March 25. Dress up in your grooviest outfits for a fun night for all ages. The cost is $25 per person and it open to the public. The event is sponsored by the Argyle West Elementary PTA.
Spring Break Cheer Mini-Camp!
The Argyle High School Cheer Boosters present Spring Break Mini-Camp on Thursday, March 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. It will be held in the AHS gym for grades Kindergarten-5th grade.

Living For Zachary Heart Screenings
The “Living for Zachary Heart Screening” is a special screening program created by Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital–Plano for youth ages 12-22 that can help detect heart abnormalities that may lead to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA).
Free Heart Screenings will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Shoot for the Stars Event at Argyle High School, located at 6601 Canyon Falls Dr. The screening event is in honor of Alex Betzhold.
Eagle Students Helping Serve Community!
It's always great to see our Eagle students serving the community. Members of Argyle High School's PALS (Peer Assistance Leadership & Service) were out in the community last week picking up litter and helping serve their hometown!
ESL Hosting Bingo Night March 22!
Argyle ISD's English as a Second Language (ESL) Department is hosting ESL Bingo Night on Wednesday, March 22. So be sure to mark your calendars for this free fun event that will include snacks and prizes. All students and families in the ESL program are invited to attend. It will be held from 5:30-6:30 PM in the AHS cafeteria.

The Argyle Education Foundation's annual gala will be held Saturday, April 22. This year's event -- The Black Diamond Affair -- will be held at the Embassy Suites in Denton. The AEF is celebrating 20 years of supporting Argyle ISD! AEF supports the district through raising funds to donate to AISD.

Lady Eagle Powerlifting Sets School Record!
The Argyle Lady Eagles powerlifting team set a school record by producing three state qualifiers at the Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Regional Championships this week at Prosper High School! The team finished fourth overall. The following are the regional finishes for the Lady Eagles:
Kayla Rose finished 2nd in the 105 lb division - State Qualifier
Cassidy Owen finished 1st in the 165 lb division - State Qualifier (2nd year in a row)
Rebecka Borg finished 1st in the 181 lb division - State Qualifier
Tessa Kneip finished 8th in the 132 lb division to add to the Team Total
The state meet will be held March 18 in Frisco at Comerica Arena. Go Lady Eagles!

Argyle Hosts Soccer Doubleheader Tonight!
The Argyle Lady Eagles will get Friday's soccer home doubleheader started at 5:30 PM against Birdville in district action. The Eagles will follow at 7:15 PM also against Richland.
Come out tonight and support our outstanding soccer teams! Both games will be played at Eagle Stadium, located on the campus of Argyle Middle School.

The Argyle Lady Eagle softball team and Eagle baseball seasons are underway and the excitement is here for the spring. Be sure to follow both teams on social media to get all the latest game updates and scores.
Eagle Football Spring Practices Begin April 11
The Argyle Eagles will begin spring football practice on April 11 from 7-8 a.m. The Eagles will practice through May 10 as they prepare for the 2023 football season. Most practices will be held in the morning with practices at night on April 24, 25, 27 and May 3.
The Eagles are coming off a 14-1 season that included a Class 5A Division II state semifinal finish. Last year was Argyle's first in Class 5A.
Argyle Archery "One Last Shot" Fundraiser
The Argyle Archery program is inviting all current and former archers along with their friends, family and all community members to the archery arena for a fun fundraiser.
The fundraiser will be held April 22 form 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
