Visit from Archbishop Hebda
We were honored to have Archbishop Hebda celebrate mass with us on Friday. Thank you to the many parents that joined us.
After mass, Archbishop sat down with our 8th graders for a question and answer session. The students had excellent questions especially around the topic of confirmation. Archbishop Hebda also toured our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd space where our preschoolers were in session.

Recycling Plastic
Dear Sacred Heart community,
We have the chance to keep plastic film out of landfills! This fall, the school is hosting a Ridwell recycling drive. You’re invited to bring plastic film (ziptop bags, grocery bags, bubble wrap, and lots more) to school on Tuesday, November 12, and Ridwell will make sure it stays out of landfills. Start collecting plastic film now so you have a bunch to bring during the drive!
This info sheet explains what plastic film is and why it’s hard to recycle, and this video shows a ton of examples. All the plastic film we collect during the drive will be turned into Trex decking!
Curious about Ridwell at-home recycling pickup? They collect hundreds of common household items you can’t recycle curbside, like plastic food packaging, lightbulbs, clothes, Styrofoam, and more. You can help the school earn rewards if you sign up for a household membership by December 15. We’ll earn pickup of the school’s plastic film all spring when 10 new members sign up and a field trip to the Ridwell warehouse when 20 new members sign up.
Find out more at get.ridwell.com/shcs
Thank you!

Art Adventure 2024
Calling for Art Adventure Volunteers!
Please consider being a “Picture Person” in a classroom! We present Art Adventure, a program created by the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, to students in November and December. This is a great way to earn volunteer hours. This year’s theme is How People Lived. Classroom Picture People are not art historians or artists themselves, instead, you will lead students in conversations about art, listen as they describe what they see, talk about what the artist is hoping to express, how the art makes them feel. Any parent would be a great Picture Person!
The MIA provides amazing virtual and in-person training, a printed book for you to keep, and art reproductions for presenting. Please use SignUp to claim your spot. Contact Joanna Rosendahl with any questions 612-876-1929 (call or text), email: joannarosendahl@gmail.com
Joanna is a volunteer and parent of a sixth grader and is coordinating Art Adventure this year.

Middle School Youth Group-Every Wednesday
Where: Good Shepherd Catholic Church
145 Jersey Ave. S. Golden Valley, MN (only a few minutes away from Sacred Heart)
Need more info: Contact Katie Kruc, youth minister, kkruc@shrmn.org
For the past few weeks, I've had a good gut check when Wednesday night came around. During the Northwest Catholic Youth Group meetings, we're answering the question of what it looks like to live out joy, how it's different and deeper than happiness, how it has many parts to it, but it is very simple. Even though I'm part of the team that helps to put on these nights and teach the messaGE, I think some of the students there understand me better.
These past two weeks have been truly amazing experiences. Seeing kids from three different communities come together and not only learn about Who Jesus is and how much His love covers everything, but also just have a time set aside to have fun during the busyness of the week has been very refreshing to see.
There is no shortage of these nights. Every Wednesday is a new opportunity for 6-8th graders to uncover a little bit more about the possible depths of joy, of friendship, and the beauty when urgent things are set aside for a time and the important things can take center stage (not to mention the snack bar is on an elevated level I didn't even know existed). Please join us!

Sacred Heart is in need of coaches for girls basketball, softball and baseball.
Positions are volunteer and can be used towards your family volunteer hours. Not to mention forming long, lasting relationships with Sacred Heart parents and students!
The girls’ basketball season runs from the beginning of January into the 2nd week of March.
Softball and baseball run concurrently from the beginning of April until the end of May.
Grades 5-8 can participate so this is an excellent opportunity for someone with a child in those grades to be responsible for building their athletic confidence!

Need help paying for tuition?
MN Fundraising Initiative (MNFI) secures contracts with over 23 venues in the greater Twin Cities area including Target Field, Target Center, Canterbury, and US Bank to operate food and beverage concessions stands at their events.
MNFI organizes teams of volunteers from all over the state of MN and WI who work together to run these stands. In turn, MNFI receives donations from these venues. The donations are then used to award grants to families in local communities to allow youth to attend private school, such as Sacred Heart Catholic School and participate in enrichment activities they may not otherwise be able to enjoy. Checks are mailed directly to Sacred Heart in your name.
Many of our school families use this organization to help pay for tuition.
