Principal Kraemer's Notes
November
Home of the Rabbits!
Mission: At Rabbit Creek, we strive to create a safe and inclusive environment that fosters high levels of academic and social emotional standards to prepare all students for success and future challenges.
Vision: We create and provide rigorous academic and social emotional practices that engage and motivate our individual learners.
Land Acknowledgement: We acknowledge that our school is on the traditional lands of the Dena'ina People of Upper Cook Inlet. For thousands of years, the Dena'ina People have continued to be the stewards of this land. ASD is committed to diversity and inclusion, and it is with honor and respect that we recognize all Indigenous people who live and learn in our community.
Dear Rabbit Creek Families,
November is a month often associated with gratitude and there is so much I am grateful for as the principal of Rabbit Creek. Our staff is extremely dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment where students can grow both academically and social-emotionally. Our families are active in student learning, enhance student opportunities within our school, and support teachers in multiple ways. Finally, our amazing students who I look forward to seeing everyday. We truly have a special community here at Rabbit Creek.
If you or your students would like to show your gratitude, we will be creating a gratitude tree near the office. If you and/or your student would like to decorate a leaf and write what you are grateful for, you can add turn them into the office and we will add them to our tree. Here is a link to the leaves. We will also have blank leaves in the office.
Thank you for your continued support to help our school community thrive.

A Few Reminders
Attendance & School Closures:
As I sit watching the snow fall from my office, I am reminded that winter is here. Our roads will now become icy and increasingly difficult to manage. This means one of two things - (1) getting to school on time will be a challenge that we will all face and (2) school closures are likely to occur.
Please make sure that you are leaving your homes with enough time to get to school safely and on time. Remember that attendance is important for everyone and can affect student achievement. Here is an informational 1-pager on attendance. If there is a school closure, like today, I will send out an all school message via Blackboard and your classroom teacher will share the plan for the day. More information about closures can be found on the ASD website.
Right-Sizing:
Further information about ASD's right-sizing initiative will be presented to the public in November. Thank you to those who filled out the survey and provided feedback about the survey. Your voices were heard and make a difference. To learn more about right-sizing please click here.

News from the PE Department
Quarter 2 of the school year is always a favorite of mine and the students. We do a large unit on Cooperative Learning, use the climbing ropes, swinging ropes, climbing wall, pedelos and group skis. There will also be a short unit on Basketball, our annual Build a Turkey activity and then another favorite, Circus Arts, which will include juggling, pogo sticks, stilts, flower sticks and spinning plates.
