Science
Hi Scientists!
This week in science, students will be exploring the interior structure of the Earth through an engaging scale activity. They will also delve deeper into plate tectonics with a Gizmo activity, and learn about Pangaea and the asteroids that contributed to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Additionally, Roots Quizzes will resume in Term 2, as students have completed all their root word lessons for Term 1.
This week marks the beginning of our upcoming field trips, so please remind your child to pack their lunch and adhere to the behavior expectations during these outings. Lastly, if your child has any missing assignments, we encourage you to ensure they complete these before the end of the term.
World Geography
Last week students will started their first current events analysis. This will be a weekly homework assignment that will be assigned on Monday and due every Friday. Students did their first CEA in class and receive feedback from me Wednesday. After we launched into our unit 2 of Sub-Saharan Africa with mapping and glossary. Students will take home study materials for their SSA Map quiz, they will take on Wednesday 10/23.
This week students will continue and finish their map exploration on Sub-Sahara Africa. We will review for our quiz Tuesday through a Jeopardy review game. Students will take their qui Wednesday 10/23. Thursday we will close out our week with examining the 5 themes of geography. Friday is our team field trip.

This is my 6th year at Deal and 10th year teaching math. At Deal we focus on becoming better each and everyday; better self, better are reading and writing for math, and better at showing work. My main goal for this year is to improve your conceptual understanding in math so that it helps you for all your academic life. We learn many interesting topics and have fun doing so. I am looking forward to a wonderful learning year with you.
