Message from Ms. Jameson
We have so many reasons to celebrate the great things that are happening at Leonardtown Elementary! On Friday, we had our 4th Community Gathering of the school year. This assembly of students and staff includes some routine chants and agenda items, and we always make time for fun. Our MTSS team selects student representatives (chosen from those who have received SOARR tickets) to compete in minute-to-win-it games. We also highlight our Million Page Reading Challenge progress and honor Gold Apple Readers. Student birthdays are also announced. We review the Safe, On-Task, Accountable, Responsible, and Respectful (SOARR) behavior expectations with students, as well as our monthly attendance averages. Our average daily attendance for September and October of this school year have exceeded previous years!
Recently, there have been some fantastic demonstrations of student leadership. We have a group of students who organized at the grass-roots level and published a school newsletter. Another group have accepted the titles of "Lost and Found Agents", assisting with organizing and circulating clothing items that haven't been claimed. I love that our Anchored for Life and Student Council participants are organizing donation drives and are reaching out to new students. It is awesome to see students at such a young age accepting responsibility for contributing to the school community.
The 90-day, half-way point of the school year is creeping up on us. Be looking for upcoming opportunities to participate in our school sponsored activities. We've got a lot to celebrate!
