Principal Message
I truly enjoyed watching the Spring Sing shows this past week for K-4th. It was great to see so many of you there. This time of year seems to go so quickly and is packed with events. Thank you in advance for considering to sign up below to help at Olympic Day. We hope many of you can join us at the Parents' Night Out. If you have a child starting Kindergarten in the fall, please join us at Rehm Park Sunday between 10:00 and noon for the K Blast Off. Emails went out to registered K students, but thank you for sharing with neighbors and friends. Finally, take a look at the other important information, including considering to step forward to help on the PTO board or get involved in other ways.
Summer reading starts June 1 at the Oak Park Public Libraries
Summer reading programs begin June 1 For kids ages 2 through rising 6th graders Adventure Begins at Your Library! On June 1, sign up in person or on the online platform Beanstack, then track reading and activities for kids to earn beads and prizes all summer long. How it works: Every 20 minutes kids read (or are read to) earns them a star. Every 3 stars (1 hour of reading or 3 picture books) earns them a bead. Bonus beads are awarded for every 5 hours of reading. Any kind of reading is good reading! Books do not have to come from the library. No matter what age, we encourage reading aloud to children, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, reading in any language, and choosing any type of book or magazine, including comics and graphic novels. For middle & high schoolers Just Bee at the library! From June 10-August 2, students can complete a bingo card of activities to win prizes. Head over to game with us once a week at Maze Branch and find more special activities at the Main Library, Mondays through Fridays, 1-5 pm. For everyone 18+ On June 1, everyone can sign up online to track reading, complete activities (e.g., reading your favorite book or watching your favorite film, taking a course in Creativebug or LinkedIn Learning, visiting the Creative Studio, and attending library-led events) for chances to win a gift card for local businesses! Sign up begins at oppl.org & the library on Saturday, June 1 »

Beye Olympic Day - Friday, May 31
Beye Olympic Day is fast approaching on Friday, May 31st! If you haven't had the chance to join in on the excitement of Olympic Day yet, you're in for a treat. It's a cherished year-end tradition at Beye, where each classroom represents a different country and engages in friendly competition through a series of outdoor stations and challenges. We're counting on your support to make this day a blast for our students, whether by volunteering your time or contributing supplies. Use the Olympic Day Volunteer Sign-Up link to learn more about volunteer opportunities. Let's make this another unforgettable day for our school community!
It's Yearbook time!
We're making our yearbooks using TreeRing, which is the same company as in past years.
If you've never used it before, the link for ordering a yearbook ishttps://www.treering.com/purchase?PassCode=1015276181452624
(If you ordered in the past, it should remember you!)
They cost $14.53 + tax.
You can make a couple of pages that are customized for your kid using their website! Orders are due by June 3 for free shipping (they will ship to the school), and you'll need to create your custom pages by then too.
(It's possible to order any time after this date too, but they charge about $6 to ship it individually.)
We'll get these yearbooks during the summer -- probably mid to late July -- and we'll have multiple occasions for you to pick them up! If you have questions, feel free to e-mail Melanie Pivarski at pivarski@gmail.com -- she'll do her best to find the answer for you!
Have any fun photos from Beye this year? Send them in for our awesome yearbook! Photos could be from events, practices, field trips, classroom volunteering-- anything! Feel free to email yours to pivarski@gmail.com. If you could include what it's from, that would be even better! Would you like to help design a page for your kid's class? (time commitment: 30-60 minutes) Of course you would! Please email pivarski@gmail.com about that too!
School Supply Kits - Time to Order and Avoid the Stores
You can order your school supply boxes now for next fall. Don't forget, and your future self will thank you. By ordering through this link, you can get all your school supplies in one place and support the Beye PTO, which receives a portion of the sales. Visit the website and purchase the specific box sorted by grade. Supplies will be delivered to the classrooms before the school year begins in August.

Beye PTO Needs You!
Run for next year’s executive board or find your perfect volunteer role! Online voting will begin at the picnic, following a brief introduction of candidates.
Run for the PTO Executive Board:
Elections for the 2024-2025 Executive Board will be held in late May.
Run for the board and help shape the PTO’s role in the school.
What does the executive board do?
Meet one evening per month
Build the budget: Decide how best we can use our resources.
Craft policies: Help foster equity and strengthen the PTO’s role in the community, and be part of shaping both short term and long term goals for Beye.
Support our Working Groups: Help our tireless Working Groups get the assistance and information they need from the Board.
Facilitate a family-school partnership: Be a liaison between Beye families and Beye staff in working to create the best possible school for our kids. You can have a direct influence on your child’s educational experience.
Plus, great company and snacks!
We are especially in need of someone to work with our current Finance Chair, Tawny Lane, with the intention of taking over as Finance Chair for SY 25-26. Email Tawny at director06@beyeschoolpto.org for more information.
If you are interested or have any questions, please email board@beyeschoolpto.org, or reach out to a current board member (find us in the front section of the Beye Directory).
Other essential volunteer roles:
There are many other ways to get involved at Beye, from leading a working group, to helping run an event, to volunteering a few hours at an event or in the front office. Here is a list of volunteer opportunities to explore.
District News
Join District 97 Schools for "Blast Off to Kindergarten" Sunday, May 19 at Rehm Park!
The Collaboration for Early Childhood, in partnership with District 97, will host its second "Blast Off to Kindergarten" event on Sunday, May 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Rehm Park. Children and families who will be entering kindergarten in Oak Park this fall are invited to meet and explore after-school programs, District 97 staff, administrators, and parent teacher organizations.
Early learning programs, who have played a pivotal role in preparing our little adventurers for this next chapter, will also be in attendance. There will be games and refreshments, and a “kindergarten portal” for our future kindergarteners to pass through and “officially” enter the “kindergarten universe.”
Blast off to Kindergarten is meant to celebrate our little ones, but it also will help parents and caregivers connect to parent organizations and to make connections that will help jump-start a smooth transition to kindergarten for everyone involved. All incoming kindergarteners and their families are invited. No registration is required.
