Hep A VACCINE CLINIC
The Johnson County Health Department Olathe location is hosting a “Last minute clinic” on October 11th (The kids are out of school that day!)
For Hep A vaccines ONLY. Must take current immunization records with you!
9am-2pm. 11811 S Sunset, Olathe KS 66061.
Immunizations need to be up to date for school by October 16th!
WEAR YOUR GLASSES OCTOBER 17
Vision screenings will take place on October 17th.
If your student wears glasses, please make sure they bring them to school that day so we can test them with their current prescription
PTA MEEGTING OCT. 8th
PTA Meeting - Tuesday, October 8th at 6 pm in the BJF Library will be our monthly PTA Meeting. Join us as we discuss upcoming events and other BJF information.
WALK TO SCHOOL DAY
Walk to School Day - Join us on Friday Oct. 4 for Walk to School Day! Meet your teachers at 7:30 a.m. along the 5 designated routes and walk with them to BJF. Please see the flyer for all the information and routes.
GOLDEN SKATE AWARD
Congratulations to Ms. Burrows class on winning the Golden Skate! Thanks to everybody attending the Skate Party we raised over $400!
CHAT AND CHEW
Our first Chat and Chew was a success with 115 students and multiple volunteers! If you have not turned in your books please do so to your teacher. There are upcoming sessions if you missed this one! Ask your teacher for a permission slip for the next one in December. Happy Reading!

Trunk or Treat: SAVE THE DATE! Trunk or Treat is Friday Oct. 25th from 6 to 8pm! We can't do it without your help! COMMUNITY Camps and Clinics
ARRIVAL
Students may enter the school building at 7:50 a.m. If they will not be eating breakfast they will go to the MPR (multiple purpose room/cafeteria).
- All car riders will be dropped off in the circle drive. For the safety of our students, please do not let your child out of your car until staff are outside at 7:50a.m.
- Students should exit the vehicle from the passenger side.
WALKERS
- Walkers will enter the building through door #15 on the east side of the building.
- Students will not be allowed in the building prior to 7:50a.m.
- There will be an adult staff member outside of door #15 at 7:50am to act as crossing guard for our students.
BREAKFAST
Breakfast begins at 7:50 a.m. Students that eat breakfast, may enter the building at 7:50a.m. They can enter through the front door or the walker door.
DISMISSAL
Please be patient with our staff and with each other as we begin a new school year. It takes about 1-2 weeks for dismissal to begin running smoothly.
- Walkers - Students who are walking will be dismissed through the East facing door #15. Parents may wait on the east side of the building in the grass area. For the safety of our students please do not cross the crosswalk and block the exit. You will pick up your walker from SPOT 1, SPOT 2 or SPOT 3. (see image below)
- Car Riders - All students/families will be given a car tag with a number. Please hang this tag on your review mirror during dismissal. Our staff will need to see this number in order to call your student(s) to the front for dismissal. NO parents should park in the parking lot if your student is a car rider. Remain in your vehicle at all times.
