Hosford Middle School
February 3rd - 7th
Dear Families,
This week is National School Counseling Week!
We are so thankful to have Ms. Brown and Ms. Benny Leo as our counselors at Hosford Middle School! They are an essential part of our faculty and do so many things for our students and staff. From check-ins, small groups, crisis intervention, schedule changes, classroom lessons and lunch supervision, you can see them all over Hosford caring for our community.
Please take a moment this week to let them know how much you appreciate their hard work and care!

Cleveland Boys Basketball Youth Night: Saturday, February 8th
Cleveland Boys Basketball is hosting their annual Youth Night this Saturday, February 8th at 6 PM. This is a really fun opportunity for different generations of athletes to all come together. Any athlete that is competing for a Cleveland Youth Basketball team will be given free entry and special seating behind the varsity bench. There will also be a meet and greet with the Varsity athletes and coaches after the game.
Hosford Students Make the Honor Band!
PPS All City M.S. Honor Band
Congratulations to Róisín Crawford, Liam Ortolano, Roland Thomas, Elvis Patrick, and Liam Rupple for their acceptance and participation in the PPS All City M.S. Honor Band. They were among 80 other top musicians from around the district brought together for a two day rehearsal ending with a concert on Saturday afternoon at Cleveland H.S. Amber Yester, Band Director at North Bend High School, was the guest conductor and she was amazing with the young musicians with her command of the baton and high energy approach. There were quite a few former Huskies in the H.S. honor group as well.
Mr. Johnston and the Husky community are very proud of our young musicians for your accomplishment.
Cheer Clinic Feb. 10th, 11th & 13th
Cleveland High School Cheer Team is putting on a youth cheer clinic February 10th, 11th & 13th. They will perform at the Men’s Varsity Basketball game on February 14th at Cleveland High School. The high school cheerleaders will be teaching a series of cheers and a sideline dance to the youth cheerleaders that they will use at the basketball game. Attached is the flyer with a QR code linked to the registration form. This clinic will be for 4th-8th graders and we encourage everyone to try, we look forward to meeting all of the eager youth cheerleaders!
Reminders:
Cleveland Track Needs You!
All middle school sports are through the feeder high schools.
Cleveland Youth Track is seeking more adult helpers - paid and volunteer coach positions available! Cleveland's team hovers around 250 athletes each year. Because of this, we always need more hands on deck.
Practices are Monday and Wednesday from 5-6:30 at the Cleveland track and meets are Thursdays from 5-7:30 at various locations around the city. You don't need to be a specialist - just someone who is willing to show up, support lead coaches, and help manage athlete behavior. If you do happen to have any previous knowledge of specific track and field events, areas of support that we are particularly looking to fill are: javelin, long jump, high jump, and discus.
Becoming a coach in any capacity will require some hours of online training. If you are only able to come one of the two days, you would probably fit best in a volunteer rule.
If you can come to both practices and most meets, a paid position is probably for you! Please contact Meghan Eigo at meigo@pps.net if you have any questions or are interested to any degree!
