From the Principals desk....
I was fortunate to take our teams to the 2023 Piako Football Festival. This is a new pre-season tournament organised by WaiBop Football and Te Aroha Junior Soccer.
After rain the night before, the day dawned bright and breezy for the Piako Football Festival. Across the Te Aroha Primary Schools 26 teams in total competed, with six teams from Stanley Ave. Each team played 4 games and get a pre-season taste of Football. I was impressed with the Stanley Ave students' skills and sportsmanship throughout the day. I was especially proud of students giving Football/Soccer a go for the first time. They say that starting is the hardest part! I loved the ‘Whaia kia u’ (Strive to Succeed) attitude from all our students participating.
The day could not have happened without the organisation of Scott from WaiBOP Football and the Te Aroha Junior Soccer Committee. Also I would like to mention Mrs Valencia, Miss Klein, Vinnie Narayan, Kristina Watts and Jess Norman for managing the teams so well on the day.
The Players of the Day below were chosen for their skill, sportsmanship and team player attributes.
SAS Madrid: Eden Loneko
SAS United: Erik Pollock
SAS Wolves: Hannah Corrigan
SAS Celtic: Tyler Haines
SAS Rangers: Shivam Patel
SAS Phoenix: Aroha Pekipaki
Please note ‘Whaia kia u’- Strive to Succeed is one of our four Learner Dimensions.
