SCHOOL YEAR 24-25📓
May 5, 2025
Principal's Message 💬
Hello LMS families,
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week! Our educators work hard every day to ensure that students are exposed to skills that will help them succeed throughout middle school and beyond. We give thanks to them for their contributions to our students and community as a whole.
MCAP testing will continue this week. Grade 6 students finished Reading MCAP today and Grade 8 students will take the Social Studies MCAP Assessment tomorrow and Wednesday this week. Please remind students to charge their devices each day and to bring their computer to school. This is important for students to be successful on the assessment with minimal distractions, such as charging, finding another device, etc.
Thank you,
Ryan Warfel
Principal
🚨🚨 Staff Spotlight🚨🚨
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to all of the Teachers at LMS!
This week, in honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, we’re shining the spotlight not on just one educator—but on every single teacher at Lansdowne Middle School.
To our LMS teachers: thank you for the incredible work you do each and every day. Your passion, creativity, and unwavering commitment to our students do not go unnoticed. Whether you’re planning engaging lessons, offering a listening ear, staying late to support students, or finding new ways to bring learning to life—you are the heartbeat of this school.
You wear many hats: teacher, mentor, advocate, cheerleader, and role model. You show up with compassion and resilience, even on the toughest days, and continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of our students and families.
LMS is a better place because of YOU.
💙 Thank you for your dedication.
💙 Thank you for your patience.
💙 Thank you for believing in every student who walks through your door.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! You are valued, celebrated, and deeply appreciated—not just this week, but every week

Resources for Families Regarding Immigration
We are committed to to fostering safe and inclusive learning environments where all students thrive—
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has identified several resources that may support you:
- Parents/guardians can identify a “standby guardian” to care for their child if they are detained or deported, by completing this Maryland Judiciary form and providing a copy to schools, health care providers, and family members.
- Families trying to locate someone who has already been detained, may use the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainee locator.
- Legal assistance is available from a variety of sources, including immigration lawyers in private practice, accredited representatives (non-attorneys who assist individuals in immigration proceedings), and legal-aid organizations:
The People’s Law Library of Maryland Immigration Advocates Network
- Several immigration organizations have provided guidance related to preparing for and/or responding to immigration action.
