Woodland Elementary Weekly Notes
Message From The Principal
Dear Woodland Families!
I hope this message finds you doing well and enjoying the sunshine this Spring! Quarter 3 is wrapping up in just a few days and we will be continuing to work hard during the final months of the year. These few months are some of my favorites as we see our learners taking off and applying their independence to what we have done all year. It is an exciting time!
I often entourage teachers this time of year to step back and watch their students as we can learn a lot from observation. If you think back to the start of the year, and compare that to where they are now, it is impressive. We are consistently seeing more independence, problem solving, and overall positive displays of our community values. We continue to be grounded in a growth mindset and I hope your children have expressed their excitement to you about their own growth this school year.
As you know, we are in our testing window for the Wisconsin Forward Exam. Specific schedules for testing have been shared by classroom teachers so that you can best plan as a family. This test is given to Grades 3 and 4 only. Thank you in advance for avoiding these testing times for appointments and vacations. While we will have a “make up window,” we prefer that our students test in the most normal way possible with their classmates. The state assessment is one measure of our student success, and we use it to help guide our instruction, and school improvement efforts. If you have any questions at all regarding the Forward Exam, please contact your child’s teachers or me at any time.
With that, our kids grow up fast! I remember hearing that years ago from those around me who had kids themselves. As a parent myself, it seems like yesterday when I was helping my own children with reading, math, and friendships. Now I am practicing driving…..yikes…and discussing college, work, and financial responsibility. While all fun, we certainly miss things with the “blink of an eye.” I encourage all of us to enjoy the moments as each one is precious, meaningful, and one step in our children’s journey. I am constantly reminded by what I see each day that our kids are in great hands, doing amazing things, and certainly being prepared to be leaders in our community.
The year continues to be another strong one and I cannot wait to see the continued growth from our students this Spring. As always, my door is open and I welcome you to stop by, email, or call anytime that you have questions, comments, or concerns. Take care and thanks again for your continued support!
Go Wolves!

Counselor's Corner with Mr. Biolo
Hello Parents/Guardians,
Last week I stumbled across this quote below and shared it with the Woodland elementary teachers and staff. I thought you might like to see this as well.
Just like plants need the right environment, soil, water and sunlight to thrive, children need the proper "nutrients" to grow into caring, responsible citizens. At home and school, we need to surround them with positive values, model good behavior, and nurture their ethical growth.
What are some of the essential "seeds" we want to plant and cultivate? Honesty, respect, kindness, responsibility, perseverance and integrity are just some of the critical character traits. These values don't just automatically blossom, they require sustained effort.
As educators and families, it's our job to be the gardeners who prepare the soil by setting clear expectations and a caring, compassionate environment. Through our words and deeds, we water the seeds by discussing and displaying ethical behavior consistently. We provide the "sunlight" of positive reinforcement when students exemplify desirable traits.
And just like real seeds, not all character lessons will take root instantly. We may need to re-plant the message and have patience for children to bloom in their own time.
But with the right guidance and commitment, we can shape a future garden of students blossoming with strong, grounded character.
As always, please contact me at cbiolo@kimberly.k12.wi.us if you have any questions or concerns.
