The Tiger's Tale

November is National Family Literacy Month. The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of literacy and the role families play in their child's education. Here are just a few ways to celebrate National Family Literacy Month:

• Pull out your favorite childhood book(s) and read them to your children.
• Create a family reading schedule.
• Take a family trip to a local library.
• Create an in-home library with your child's favorite books.
• Find books that have been made into movies. Read the book, then watch the movie as a family.

Due to the tough financial times this year for many in our community, we have more Angel's on the Angel Tree than we have donors. The children on this list would not have a Christmas if it weren't for the generosity of our Tiger families. If you would be interested in "adopting" and Angel or perhaps partnering with another person to "adopt" an Angel, please contact Mrs. Murphy at hmurphy@denisonisd.net or via her office phone at 903-462-7928. The goal is to have all donations dropped off with Mrs. Murphy by Dec. 16th at the latest so we can get them to the families prior to Christmas Break. Thank you!💗

We would love to know the ways that teachers and staff members at Hyde Park have touched the lives of our students and families. If you would like to recognize someone who has made a difference in the lives of our Tigers, please use the link attached. We gift the staff member with the complete submission and name of the person who nominated them on a certificate. Each week, I will also add the recognitions (with your name and your student's names redacted) to this section! **If there are more submissions in a week than I can fit on here, I will get them added to the next week's Tiger Tale. • A GIANT Tiger thank you to everyone who donated to the teacher's Fall Favorites Luncheon! The food was incredible and the teachers and staff were so excited when they walked in and saw everything that had been provided for them. Our families are the BEST and you are so appreciated!
• The next DROP OFF w/MOMS and DADS will be this coming Friday, Nov. 22nd. Please join us either at the Head Start door from 7:30-7:45AM and the Main Entrance for K-1 & siblings or the Sunset north entrance for 2-4th graders from 7:15 - 7:45. The students love seeing you!!
• The next PTO board meeting is on Monday, December 9th, at 4:00 in the Hyde Park library. We encourage any interested Hyde Park parents to attend. It's a great way to learn about what is going on in the school and how parents can help support the campus goals!
• The new and improved Holiday Market for students will be held the week of December 16th. The attached forms will be going home with students this week with more information. The PTO will also need 3 volunteers (2 members and 1 board member) for each shopping time slot: Morning (9:00 - 11:15) and Afternoon (12:00 - 2:15). Please watch for information on how to sign up.
