We are happy to announce that breakfast and lunch for all Lincoln students will be free of charge again this year. Every household in the Lincoln Consolidated Schools Community needs to read this letter and then complete this form.

If you have not done so yet, we ask that you please take the time to review and familiarize yourself and your student(s) with our Student Code of Conduct. It is imperative that all students adhere to our Student Code of Conduct so that we can ensure a safe learning environment for everyone in the building.

Please review the LHS Cell Phone/Wireless Electronic Devices Policy with your student(s). Our staff and administrative teams know that having a cell phone is a great way to keep in touch with your student(s). However, it is highly disruptive to the learning environment and greatly affects their ability to be academically successful. Therefore, this year we will be tightening up the monitoring of student use of cellphones/wireless devices in the building. We know that by doing so it will positively affect the overall climate and culture of the building too.

Good attendance is a strong indicator of academic success. Consistent and regular attendance at school allows students to gain knowledge, grow as a person, and develop skills that will inevitably help them succeed now and down the road in their adult lives. Please review with your student(s) the importance of being on time to class and in their assigned location throughout the entirety school day. Students had time to learn their schedules last week, so we expect all students to be on time to classes this week.

Student devices were distributed on Thursday, August 29th in students' Splitter Time hours. If your student has not received a computer yet, have them report to the Counseling Office to pick one up on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Please be sure to review the Lincoln Consolidated Schools Technology Use and Safety Policy with your student(s) so that students understand that technology must be used in a responsible and safe manner.

Licensed, responsible student drivers are welcome to drive to school! However, this is a privilege, not a right. Please review and submit the High School Student Parking form, if your student(s) will be driving to school this year.

Please be sure that you are continuing to adhere to our drop-off and pick-up procedures to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all.

• All student drop offs and pick ups need to be in the front of the high school. (The back of the high school is for bus use only.)
• Morning drop-off will begin at 6:45 a.m., with the doors opening at that time, and we ask that students arrive no earlier to ensure proper supervision.
• Afternoon pick-up will start at 2:07 p.m., and all students must be picked up by 2:45 p.m. Any students in the building after this time will need to be with an adult for proper supervision.

Please follow the designated traffic flow, to keep our students safe. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us make every school day a great one!

If your student has to take medication during the school day, please be sure that THIS FORM is completed and turned in to the Main Office. Students are not permitted to carry around or administer prescribed/over-the-counter drugs/medicines to themselves during the school day.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to share with you the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework that we have implemented in our school. PBIS is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students to achieve social, emotional, and academic success.

What is PBIS?

PBIS is designed to promote positive behavior through clear expectations and consistent reinforcement. By focusing on the core pillars of being Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Kind, we aim to create a supportive environment where every student can thrive.

The Importance of PBIS

PBIS helps students understand what is expected of them, teaches appropriate behaviors, and rewards positive actions. This approach fosters a positive school climate, reduces behavioral issues, and improves student outcomes. By integrating PBIS principles into our daily routines, we build a foundation of respect and cooperation that benefits everyone in our school community.

How You Can Support PBIS at Home

At LCS we have adopted 4 pillars of PBIS to be the driving force of building positive culture. The School Leadership Team (SLT) at LHS meets regularly to review data, coach staff, and implement strategies to help shape a positive culture in the building. To reinforce these principles, we encourage you to use the same PBIS pillars at home:

1. Be Respectful: Model and encourage respect in your interactions. Show appreciation for others' feelings, listen actively, and acknowledge the efforts of your children.

2. Be Responsible: Help your children understand the importance of taking ownership of their actions and responsibilities. Set clear expectations for tasks and follow through with appropriate rewards or consequences.

3. Be Safe: Create a safe environment by setting clear rules for behavior. Discuss and practice safety routines, and ensure your children know how to seek help when needed.

4. Be Kind: Encourage acts of kindness within the family and beyond. Recognize and praise kind behavior, and involve your children in activities that promote empathy and generosity.

By aligning our efforts at school and at home, we can support our children in developing strong, positive behaviors that will help them succeed both academically and socially. Thank you for your partnership and support in reinforcing these important values.

Texas Roadhouse is adopting Ms. Warford’s class for the entire month of September. They will have a tree at their Ann Arbor location at 3133 Ann Arbor Saline Rd where you can drop off school supplies. Items on her wish list include lined paper, black chisel tip expo markers, folders with pockets, and highlighters. Thank you for your contributions!

This fall the LHS Drama Department is putting on Little Shop of Horrors. See HERE for important information on how students can get involved and be part of this production.

On the first day of school, the senior class gathered to celebrate the start of the year by watching the sun rise. There was a great turnout and the students in attendance shared a great bonding experience as they kicked of the 2024-2025 school year!

We are so happy to share that we had a great turn out for Freshman Orientation again this year! Link Crew leaders helped to make this event a meaningful experience for our incoming 9th graders by engaging them in team building activities and taking them on tours of the building prior to the first day of school.

We are pleased to announce that our Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, September 28th this year from 7 to 10 p.m. in the East Gym.

Tickets - Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased here. Tickets will be available for online purchase only until 12 p.m. on September 27th. Tickets will be unavailable for purchase after the purchase window closes - no exceptions. Please note: No ticket sales are permitted at the door on September 28th.

Homecoming Dance Guest Pass - Students can pick up a guest pass in the Main Office and a digital version of it is included here as well. If a student brings a guest that does not attend LHS, be sure to read the form carefully and that it is turned in fully completed by 3 p.m. on September 25th the Main Office. No late submissions will be accepted. Also, outside guests must have a digital ticket purchased to gain entry to the event.

The DIGITAL (online) PSAT/NMSQT will be given at Lincoln High School on Tuesday, October 22nd.

Juniors can sign-up for the PSAT/NMSQT from Tuesday, September 3rd- Friday, September 13th in the Counseling Office. NO REGISTRATIONS CAN BE TAKEN AFTER SEPTEMBER 13th!! The fee for the test is $20.00 (cash or money order- no personal checks). If you qualify for free/ reduced lunch, the fee can be waived (see your counselor for details).

Reasons for taking the PSAT/NMSQT this fall:

- The SAT that is required next spring will be DIGITAL and this gives you a chance to have a digital practice test prior to the REQUIRED SAT.

- This is the ONLY test that qualifies our students for the National Merit Scholarship. Visit www.collegeboard.org to learn more about the National Merit Scholarship Program.

- As juniors who will take the full SAT test in April, you may want to take the PSAT as a practice test to decrease anxiety and increase your comfort with test-taking.

Homecoming

This year’s Homecoming game is on Friday, September 27th at 7 p.m. versus Bedford. This year we will be celebrating the 100th year of Lincoln Consolidated Schools! We are all very excited and the district is planning a lot of very special activities. We hope that everyone partakes in the festivities!

For a century, Lincoln Consolidated Schools has been the educational center of our community, expanding from a single school building to a campus with multiple school buildings and athletic facilities. The average age of our school buildings is over 50 years, with our newest school building opening nearly 20 years ago. Across the district, our infrastructure is aging with needed repairs and replacement becoming critical. Currently, the costs will be funded from the general budget, which impacts the amount of available funds for classrooms.

At the June 24th meeting, the Lincoln Board of Education approved placing a 2-mill, 10-year sinking fund proposal on the ballot for the upcoming November 5 election. A sinking fund is levied on all property located in a school district and would generate $2,616,487 per year for 10 years for district improvements. This proposal represents an opportunity for our district to enhance our educational facilities and help ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for all our students.

A sinking fund is a dedicated fund used exclusively for the repairs, and improvements to school buildings and grounds, instructional technology and transportation purchase and maintenance. Unlike general operating funds, which cover day-to-day expenses such as salaries and supplies, a sinking fund is specifically earmarked for capital improvements. Here are some of the key benefits that adding a sinking fund will bring to our district:

1. Facility Improvements: The sinking fund would allow us to address critical infrastructure needs, including roof repairs, HVAC system upgrades, and necessary renovations to ensure our buildings are safe and efficient.

2. Safety Enhancements: Ensuring the safety of our students and staff is paramount. The sinking fund would provide the resources needed to enhance safety and security measures across our campus.

3. Modern Learning Environments: To prepare our students for the future, it is essential that we provide modern and technologically advanced learning environments. The sinking fund would support the purchase of instructional technology. It would also support the upgrade of classrooms, labs, and other learning spaces to meet the demands of a 21st-century education.

4. Long-Term Financial Stability: By dedicating funds specifically for capital improvements, we could avoid the need to divert resources from our general operating budget. This would ensure that our funds for instructional programs and student services remain intact.

We understand that any request for additional funding must be carefully considered. The Board of Education and district administration are committed to transparency and accountability in the use of these funds. If the sinking fund is approved, detailed plans and regular updates would be provided to ensure that the community is well-informed about the progress and impact of the sinking fund.

To keep our community well-informed, upcoming messages and meetings will be scheduled closer to the election. Please watch for more details and opportunities to engage and learn about the proposal. We encourage all community members to stay informed and participate in the upcoming election.

One Tuesday, November 5, voters in the Washtenaw ISD service area will be asked to vote on whether to renew a 12-year, 2.3826 mill tax to help fund the costs of special education in our local schools.

What is on the ballot?

A 2.3826 mil renewal to cover unreimbursed costs to provide special education services in Washtenaw County. The millage would expire after 12 years. If approved, the special education millage would be used by Washtenaw ISD to reimburse all local public school districts and local public school academies for their mandated special education costs.

What would the millage renewal cost?

• The Special Education Operating Millage renewal would maintain an existing 2.3826 mil tax.
• If approved by voters, there would be no tax rate increase.
