Principal's Message
Greetings KP Community,
As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to take a moment to reflect on how grateful I am for the extraordinary KPRHS community. Each day, I am reminded of the collective strength, kindness, and dedication that make our school a special place for students to learn and thrive. From our hardworking staff and engaged families to our students who consistently demonstrate leadership and resilience, there is so much to celebrate and be thankful for.
This season is also a time to recognize the profound ways our community comes together in moments of need. The compassion and care we’ve witnessed recently are a testament to the strong bonds that unite us. I hope this holiday brings you moments of joy, reflection, and connection with loved ones.

KP Cares Giving Tree
Celebrate 10 Years of Giving with the KP Cares Giving Tree!
This holiday season marks the 10th anniversary of the KP Cares Giving Tree, a cherished tradition of supporting local families by providing gifts for their children. However, we still have over 100 gift tags that need to be filled, including many requests for gift cards.
If you’re able to help, your generosity will make a meaningful difference in spreading holiday cheer to our local families. Join us in making this milestone year extra special!
How to Participate
Option 1: Choose a Tag from the Giving Tree
- Visit the High School Library and select a paper ornament from the Giving Tree.
- Each ornament represents a specific gift request from a local child or family.
- Once you select an ornament:
- Write your name and phone number next to the ornament number on the clipboard OR scan the QR code on the back of the ornament to complete the online form.
- This process helps us track all gift requests and ensures every tag is accounted for.
Option 2: Can’t Make It to the Library? No Problem!
- Email us at rowec@kingphilip.org and we’ll select a tag for you. Please include:
- Your name.
- Your budget or approximate amount you’d like to spend.
- The type of item you’d like to purchase (e.g., clothing, toys, gift cards).
- The age range of the recipient you’d like to buy for.
- We’ll do our best to match your preferences to a tag. If no exact match is available, we’ll email you with alternative options.
Important Dates
- All gifts must be returned by December 10, 2024.

Massachusetts Community Colleges are now FREE to MA residents!
Mass Educate provides FREE community college tuition and fees for all Massachusetts students
Building on the success of Mass Reconnect, which made community college free for students 25 years and older, the Healey-Driscoll Administration and state Legislature made public community college FREE for students of any age and income in Massachusetts.
Mass Educate covers the full cost of tuition and fees for all eligible students. For more information and how to apply see the Office of Student Financial Assistance website: https://www.mass.edu/osfa/programs/masseducate.aspLevel Changes
Academic level change requests occur during the first two weeks of a course or with administrative approval. It is important that students spend sufficient time in a course before an academic level change is requested so that they and the teacher have the opportunity to determine the appropriateness of the placement.
Any level change that occurs after the first two weeks of the beginning of the course will require an Academic Level Change Request Form. Academic Level Change Request Forms are available in the School Counseling Office and require the student to get the signature of the current teacher and a parent/guardian.
Moving up a level only occurs within the first term. Any exceptions require administrative approval.
All courses dropped after the add/drop period will result in the appearance of a Withdrawal “WP” or “WF” on the student’s transcript. No schedule changes will take place during the last three weeks of a term.Getting your permit?
If you need residency documentation to obtain your Learner’s Permit or Driver’s License, the Massachusetts RMV requires the following items:
An Official Transcript
A Letter of Residency (which includes student’s DOB and current residential address)
- To have these items prepared, please complete a Transcript Request Form, check off the RVM box, and submit it to the Guidance Office secretary, Mrs. Ludwig or email it to ludwigm@kingphilip.org

Thanksgiving Football Game Tickets & Live Cable 8 Information

Watch the game on Cable Channel 8
Thanksgiving football is more than just a game—it's a cherished tradition around these parts! This year, KPSN is thrilled to partner with Wrentham, Norfolk, and Plainville Cable Access, along with Franklin Cable Access, to bring the King Philip vs. Franklin Thanksgiving game to fans across multiple platforms.
Our production will include top-tier coverage with color commentary, replay capabilities, and two sideline cameras capturing interviews and reactions from the field. In addition, we’ve included interviews with both teams' coaches and a special pre-recorded segment featuring WCVB’s Mike Lynch, reflecting on his iconic career covering Thanksgiving football—a tradition as classic as the game itself.
This collaborative effort also provides a hands-on opportunity for students from both KP and Franklin to work alongside cable access teams and gain valuable experience in live sports production.
If you can’t make it to the field, join us for this special event from the comfort of your home! Coverage begins at 9:30 a.m., and you can tune in on the Wrentham Cable 8 website. Even though it looks like we will be pretty soggy, we’re excited to share the energy and excitement of this timeless rivalry with everyone who holds it dear.
Happy Thanksgiving, and Go Warriors!
