IMPORTANT Daily Deadlines!
7:35 a.m. The back doors automatically lock, and you will need to drive around and walk your child in to the building. PLEASE DO NOT DROP-OFF STUDENTS AFTER 7:35. They must be signed in by a parent or guardian.
1:30 p.m. ALL transportation changes must be made by 1:30 by emailing or calling Kendra Field or Monica Santos at (512)-746-2170 or kendra.field@jarrellisd.org or monica.santos@jarrellisd.org.
2:30 p.m. Any student checking out early for an appointment, must be picked up prior to 2:30. Our dismissal processes are already in place by that time making it very difficult to change.
At Jarrell Elementary, we are constantly assessing our systems to make improvements for safety, convenience, and time. Observing these cut-off times helps us ensure the smoothest possible processes! Thank you!
VISOR TAGS - Car Rider Line
Hats off to our amazing car rider line staff! They work so hard to make sure the lines move safely and quickly! You can help by keeping your VISOR TAG number visible until your child is in the car. This helps our teachers bring your child quickly to the car.
SMART TAGS REQUIRED!
All bus riders must have a Smart Tag to ride! Please let us know if your child no longer has this tag, and we will get it replaced. There is a small fee to replace, but we are happy to provide new plastic loops or cases to ensure it doesn't get lost.
New Attendance reporting time - 9:05 a.m.
Our new attendance reporting time is 9:05 a.m. If your child checks in after this time, he or she will be counted absent for the day.
Help us reach our goal of 100% attendance each and every day!

OUR LITTLE FREE LIBRARY
Fun Fact: There are many Little Free Libraries around the world that are shaped like animals! Check out ours in FRONT OF JES!
During August, our Little Free Library is celebrating the awesome, amazing animals all around us! Maybe you would like to find out what your pet is thinking. If so, Diario de un Pug, by Kyla May could be very helpful. On the other hand, you might want to know how you can help save some of our threatened animal friends. Rachel W. Brooks, who wrote Save our Sea Turtles, has created a fact-filled book that would be a good place to start. These and many, many more books are waiting for you at our Little Free Library.
We hope you will stop by the Little Free Library and take a book, leave a book, or trade a book.
READING and CAKE!
Transportation - Walkers - Please help!
If your child is a neighborhood walker, please do not drive through the neighborhood to park along the street out front. This creates traffic through our neighborhood making it unsafe for our walkers. We ask that you use our car rider line if you would like to drive up to pick up your child.
You can change your child's transportation to car rider by 1:30.
Our car rider line is one of the fastest around, and you get to wait in the air conditioning while we bring your child directly to your car!

We have been busy going over our first grade rules and expectations in and out of the classroom and we will review them daily. We will be reviewing our letter sounds and practice forming upper- and lowercase letters correctly and blending and segmenting phonemes (sounds). We will be discussing the characteristics of our read-alouds, including characters, setting, and plot. In math, first grade will begin a unit on sums and differences to 10. Science will be learning about the scientific and engineering practices to investigate the world. Social Studies will be learning rules and procedures in home, school, and community. First grade teachers are very excited about this school year!!!
2nd GRADE
We had a fabulous first week learning routines and getting to know each other! This week in Math we will be learning how to make a ten. In Skills we will be learning basic code review. In Knowledge we will introduce fairy tales and tall tales. In Science we will be learning safety procedures. In Social Studies we will be learning about how to be a good citizen.
3rd GRADE
Third grade is off to a wonderful start! We have established our classroom expectations and responsibilities. We also created our social contract which will serve as a reminder for our expectations throughout the school year. This week in Reading, we will begin our study of the classic tale The Wind in the Willows. We will use this tale to analyze the characters, plot, and the themes of the story. We will also be reading Sir Gus and focusing on how to use text evidence to respond to our Reading. For Foundational Skills, our focus will be reviewing short vowels. In Math, we will begin our study of multiplication by building equal groups, arrays, and connecting our models to repeated addition, and finally the multiplication fact. We will also introduce division as equal shares using pictorial models. In Social Studies, we will be focusing on classroom communities. We are excited about this new school year and watching your child grow and learn!
4th GRADE
In Math, students will build their understanding of whole numbers by exploring hundreds, thousands, and billions using place value manipulatives and charts. They will use the "times ten" method to develop their comprehension of place value in larger numbers. In ELAR Students will develop skills in writing personal narratives and making inferences while reading. In Social Studies we will begin learning about the geographic regions of Texas. And in Science, students will understand the scientific and engineering processes, recognize the similarities between investigating and designing, and identify recurring themes throughout the school year.
5th GRADE
We’re diving into an exciting week in 5th grade, packed with engaging learning experiences across all subjects! In Math, our young mathematicians are exploring the fascinating world of patterns within the place value system. It’s incredible to see them connect the dots and uncover the relationships between numbers!
In Science, our budding scientists are delving into the concept of scientific systems. They’re learning how different parts of a system interact and work together, setting the stage for deeper understanding as they continue their studies.
In ELA, we’re starting a thrilling journey into Personal Narratives. Students are not only learning how to structure paragraphs effectively but also enhancing their writing with stronger adjectives and verbs. Plus, they’re mastering the art of dialogue—understanding how to use it properly with correct punctuation to bring their stories to life!
We’re so proud of the hard work and enthusiasm our 5th graders are showing. It’s going to be a fantastic week of learning and growth! Thank you for your continued support in helping our students succeed.
