One Book One School
Mr. Popper's Penguins
We will continue reading the book together as a school and we ask that you continue to read the book nightly as a family. There will be trivia questions daily with winners from each grade level, a Bingo card students can complete with activities, an estimation station in the library, and classes are having a door decorating contest that families can vote for on our school Facebook page. Go online and vote for your the door you like most.
Homework
( Given at the beginning of the week and due at the end of the week.)
Fundation Practice
Try to read for 20 mins each night. Please refer to the pictures below to help out with some of the words on this week's homework.
Halloween - Oct. 31
Students can wear costumes on Oct. 31. These need to be school appropriate. Students can not wear inflatables, masks, face paint and their costume can not have any weapons.
School Store
Don't forget to stop by WOES School Store on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:30-7:55 to shop for seasonal items! Parent volunteers may also use the SignUpGenius link to help volunteer. WOES appreciates your time and support!

General Information
- Please check and sign your child's agenda nightly.
- Please make sure all jackets, lunchboxes and water bottles are labeled with your child's name.
- Students must bring agendas and take home folders to and from school everyday.
- Whenever there is a transportation change it MUST be hand written in their agenda.
- Please bring in a snack and water bottle daily.
- When your class starts bringing their iPads home, please make sure you charge them nightly and return to school each day.
- Excuse notes must be submitted within 2 days of your child's return to school. Please write sick notes on a separate sheet of paper so they can be turned into the office.
- If your child is absent for sickness or a trip, they will receive missed work when they return to school. This is a schoolwide policy.
Attendance Information
Please include your child's full name, teacher's name and the reason for their absence when they turn in notes. Mrs. Miller has gotten some that have been difficult to figure out who they belong to and why they were out.
What we are learning...
ELA
We will be learning how stories have a sequence. We will practice retelling a story by writing about the beginning, middle and end of a story.
Math
We will be learning about property of operations.
We will practice writing numbers and working on reversals.
Fundations
We will continue putting sounds together to make words. We review digraphs. (th, sh, ch, wh, ck) and continue to learn about bonus letters. ( f, l, s and z sometimes)
Trick words are words that you cannot be sounded out. These are words that students should work on reading and spelling.
