Dear Parents and Carers,
As we approach the end of another fantastic academic year, it’s time to share some of our wonderful experiences of the week.
We understand that moving up a year group, or for our Year 6 students, transitioning to secondary school, can be a time of mixed emotions. We are working hard to ensure all our students feel prepared and confident for their next steps. Our Year 6 students have had successful transition days at their respective secondary schools, getting to know their new environments, teachers, and classmates.
For all other year groups, teachers are already preparing students for their new classes and routines next academic year. Our transition days allowed students to visit their new classrooms and meet their new teachers.
We were delighted to host four fantastic work experience students from New College Pontefract for two days this week. Eleanor Walmsley was exhausted and in bed by 8.30 every night but she had a fantastic time with our wonderful pupils.. Their support was invaluable on transition days, and they quickly became part of the Kirk Fenton team. We wish them all the very best with their future studies and careers!
What a magnificent day we had at our annual Sports Day on Tuesday! The sun shone brightly as students from every year group showcased their athletic prowess and, more importantly, their incredible team spirit. For KS2 we have a contact at the football club who is going to ensure we have access to their toilet facilities next year.
A massive congratulations to Blue Mustangs who were crowned the Sports Day Champions for 2025! Every child who participated demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and gave their absolute best. Thank you to all the staff who organised the event and to the many parents and carers who came along to support and cheer on our young athletes – your encouragement made a huge difference!
As we head into the final weeks, we look forward to more exciting learning and celebrations. Please keep an eye on Class Dojo for further updates. Please join me at church this Sunday (10-11am) as we celebrate the school year. It would give me great pleasure to introduce my family to as many of you as possible.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mel Walmsley
