Shark Families were created as a way to build connection across all grades. Each family has a staff leader that hosts students from all K-5 grades. Families meet once a month, on the second Tuesday of each month. The time is spent getting to know each other and making a connection. Shark families remain with their same âfamilyâ each year. This helps create a unique bond between the students and staff leader.
Our first gathering of Shark Families will be this coming Tuesday. Ask your student about their family!
Families are welcome to visit students at lunch starting on Tuesday, September 3rd.
Just a reminder that we do NOT allow outside food from a restaurant (i.e. McDonaldâs, Subway, Jimmy Johns, etc.). Please bring a sack lunch from home or purchase a school lunch from your student's account for $4.75.
Shark Families,
Students received new ipads this year that have a different audio jack for headphones and ear buds than the previous model had. Please make sure your student has headphones or ear buds with a USB-C cord or Bluetooth access. If you'd like to use a pair you already have, you can purchase an adapter that will make them usable with the new devices. See an example HERE.
Kindergarten and First Grade teachers have shared that our younger students are having some trouble with the wireless headphones and connecting to Bluetooth. If you need to get new headphones or ear buds, would not recommend the wireless option for our primary students.
Students need to wear lace-up shoes in during PE. No Crocs or sandals are allowed, as they create the risk of injury. To ensure students stay safe and fit, those without proper footwear will be given alternative exercises or activities that keep them active. Thanks for your help!
We do not allow food or other items at school to celebrate birthdays per district policies. This is to accommodate food allergies and to promote equity among all students. We celebrate every Schumacher Sharkâs birthday with recognition during the morning announcements, as well as a birthday ribbon to wear, and they get to pick out a free book donated by our PTA.
Birthday or party invitations are not to be distributed at school. If you would like the mailing address, email, or phone number of classmates, simply request school directory information from the front office. hattie.cummings@lps53.org
