Happy New Year Forestdale Families! Welcome to the year 2025.
Middle Of Year (MOY) Early Literacy screening results will be sent to families in the next few weeks. We have seen good growth from students since Beginning Of Year (BOY) screeners were administered in late September early October. We use EarlyBird screening tool.
The EarlyBird Early Literacy Screener is a comprehensive digital tool designed to identify early literacy strengths and challenges in children from kindergarten through second grade. It assesses key areas critical to reading development, such as phonemic awareness, letter-sound knowledge, vocabulary, and comprehension, through engaging, game-like activities. The screener uses evidence-based methods to provide detailed insights into each child's literacy skills, helping educators and parents detect potential learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, early in a child's development. EarlyBird's data-driven approach supports targeted interventions and personalized learning plans, promoting a strong foundation for lifelong reading success.
Screeners are done 1:1 with a teacher and takes approximately 20-25 minutes to administer. End of Year (EOY) screeners will be administered in early May of 2025.
