Message from our Principal & Assistant Principal
Dear Pride Families,
Thank you for joining us for our Trunk or Treat and Fall Festival last Friday evening! It was wonderful to see so many of our families enjoying the festivities together, and we extend a big thank you to our incredible PTA for organizing this memorable event.
This week, our school is proud to participate in a fundraising initiative to support the Hillsborough Education Foundation. The funds raised will aid teachers in Hillsborough County who lost valuable classroom materials, books, and supplies due to recent hurricane-related flooding. Our talented teachers have decorated pumpkins to represent characters from some of our students' favorite book series. These creative pumpkins are currently on display in the cafeteria. Students are encouraged to vote for their favorites by dropping cash donations into the containers next to the pumpkins of their choice. This fun activity will continue until November 6, with all proceeds going toward helping impacted teachers restock their classrooms.
Thank you for your support and generosity. Together, we’re making a difference!
Stronger together,
Paulette English, Principal
Heather Moncrief, Assistant Principal

Every Day Matters!
Every day matters when it comes to attendance! There is a strong link between regular attendance and academic success. Research indicates that missing 10% of the school year, which is 2 days a month, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. Compared to students who are chronically absent, students who attend school regularly have greater success in all grade levels. Elementary school students who regularly attend class are 1.7 times more likely to achieve grade-level scores in English Language Arts and 2 times more likely to achieve grade-level scores in Math. Chronic absenteeism (10% or more of school days) leads to students struggling to read proficiently. Please note that absences for vacations and family visits are considered unexcused absences. Whenever possible, please try to schedule these activities for when school is not in session. Teachers are happy to provide students with suggestions for making up missed assignments but cannot replicate all of the learning that takes place in the classroom.
