School Board Elections
3 August 2022
This is a reminder we are looking for 5 parent representatives for the Fiordland College School Board.
At least four of the current parent representatives have indicated they will not be re-standing, for various reasons. They are confident the school is well-placed with great leadership and are happy with the direction the school is taking. They fully encourage anyone interested to seek nomination.
What do Board members do?
The Board works together to make sure every young person/rangatahi reaches their highest possible standard in educational achievement. Key aspects are:
- Working with the principal and consulting with staff, students and the community
- Setting the educational goals and strategic direction of the school
- Monitoring progress and letting parents know how the school is progressing against its annual targets and how well students are achieving
- Deciding how the school’s funding will be spent
- Supporting the school’s principal and supporting the development of all staff
- Overseeing the management of staff, property, finances, curriculum and administration
Serving a term on the Board is a challenging but very rewarding way to support the young people of Fiordland.
We are looking for people with a variety of skills, experiences and attributes who believe in making a positive difference to our children’s learning. You don’t have to be a parent to stand for election.
Does this sound like YOU or someone you know?
